Since when does Wlad hit harder?pundit wrote:And Vlad's jab - more power, longer reach - wouldn't have bothered Bruno?hitman_hatton1 wrote:for once i agree with ya.boxingchat wrote:Bruno - All day long.![]()
bruno's jab would have bothered wlad and sooner or later i see the big right hand causing havoc on klitschko's dodgy chin.
bruno KO5.
Both are piston like in their punches.
Kind of agree with Boxingchat though, no one has really outboxed Lewis that much.

i see bruno at his peak giving wlad the same kind of problems he gave lennox early in their fight...only wlad's still HIGHLY SUSPECT chin would betray him & prevent him from matching lewis' victory!!Max Molyneux wrote:Since when does Wlad hit harder?pundit wrote:And Vlad's jab - more power, longer reach - wouldn't have bothered Bruno?hitman_hatton1 wrote: for once i agree with ya.![]()

but tyson was mentally fucked up and that was the first fight where he abandoned his excellent head movement. by that point onward he was only a puncher. lewis was pre steward and had bad balance. witherspoon, well he was never the same after just about beating larry holmes. if i rememeber right, spoon came in fat and unfocusedPhenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Brunos right was probably twice as hard as Corries left. However, unless Bruno pulls a "Corrie" I consider him pretty chanceless.
Brunos fluidity was enough to outbox Lewis, Witherspoon and Smith and give Tyson some pain into the bargain. Offensive skill wise Wlad is slightly superior, but he could well freeze against a man of his own size who hits like a mual, but Bruno could probably freeze too. At least Bruno didn't completely shit himself and pass out before his opponent hit him.
i have to wonder if bruno wouldn't have fits just trying to land on a guy that huge. if you're not a puncher (byrd) or are vulnerable (bruno), chances are you get your face bashed in trying to find a way in. as most ppl are saying wlad does have nice punch delivery, uses his reach well, good repertoire/combinations...if wlad - a confident version of him - establishes a rhythm, bruno would get painfully broken down.
bruno could really whack. he was very physically strong. but his stamina always ran out and he got stopped in his most important fights. even when he was easily controlling mccall he had to pay late, exhausted and barely held on to win...wladimir has some dreadful losses, but plenty of good wins, i.e. byrd x2, mercer, barrett

You talk about losing to Tyson/Lennox and then mention Wlad doing the same thing. What do you think Wlad would of done against a 1996 Tyson other than getting ko'd in the first miniute?viciousmaussa wrote:but tyson was mentally fucked up and that was the first fight where he abandoned his excellent head movement. by that point onward he was only a puncher. lewis was pre steward and had bad balance. witherspoon, well he was never the same after just about beating larry holmes. if i rememeber right, spoon came in fat and unfocusedPhenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Brunos right was probably twice as hard as Corries left. You make out as if Wlads some defensive genious - hes not. Bruno would land the jab time and again and that in itself may be enough to put Wlad down. Wlad got put down by punchers not in the same realm as Bruno - did you see the TOS fight? Wlads wins are against none punchers, Peter who couldn't throw a straight shot to save his life and a senial Mercer who didnt come to fight. BTW your giving Stewart too much credit for LEnnoxs success
You think Bruno would have fits trying to land on a guy that huge? Bruno has a larger reach than Wlad so thats a bogus thought. Whats the height difference 2 inches? Wlad has a poor defense on top of that. Little TOS put him down and him doing a roadrunner act.

I agree, people are forgetting that this is a guy Wlad already hammered, and a guy who was also clearly on the slide. A feather fisted, blown up light heavyweight who relies on reflexes and is nearly 35 and who has looked increasingly beatable in his last few battles.
I thought Wlad might have problems if he let Byrd into the fight, but Byrd was just a sitting duck by the sounds of it.

no, i did not make out that wladimir fu_cking klitschko is a defensive genius. the way ppl can be so presumptious on here makes me wonder whether ppl can distinguish between the fantasy in their own head & what is written on the page!Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:You talk about losing to Tyson/Lennox and then mention Wlad doing the same thing. bruno would have had fits trying to land on a fine tuned lewis. i think we overestimate bruno for giving lewis and tyson I problems when they were nowhere near their best. a better Lewis would have done him much easier. the Tyson who beat Bruno would have stopped WK, certainly, but what bearing does that make on Bruno-Wlad
wladimir is an inch or two bigger than lewis. for all his massive flaws (please don't say that i would vote wlad in the HOF, if that is coming next, or i will vomit), WK knows how to use his reach, and land accurate hammering blows from the outside. if he found a rhythm on bruno, frank would never get into it. and if that happened, he would get broken down
of course, wlad could get tired and stopped. that's always a possibility with him. but i can imagine bruno eating up shot after shot the way danny williams did with vitali, never getting in the fight and getting systematically broken down
bruno isn't some guy who could come along and just outjab anyone. these big eastern bloc guys have a great deal of precision, and a good knowledge of distance even if you have to question their mettle sometimes. there is an image of Bruno being a guy who could hold his own with anyone / or be ahead vs the very best - before the inevitable flagging that led the stoppage losses

Wlad is a single inch taller than Lewis, and Lewis had a 3 inch longer reach at 84" to Wlad's 81" and yet Bruno outjabbed Lewis.
It's a hard one to call this, as both fighters have similar flaws. Both fighters like to fight at their own pace, both have a history of getting fatigued and losing, both have good jabs and power with the right hand. Thing is, Bruno lost to all the top notch guys he faced, but not without giving them some serious problems first. The only top notch fighter Wlad beat was byrd, and Byrd is tailor made for him.

i just think that wlad is a class above bruno fighting on the outside, especially in terms of punch delivery. for me that would be the difference. maybe wlad would fight scared against such a strong hulking guy and get bashed up, maybe notjamesmcdonnell wrote:Wlad is a single inch taller than Lewis, and Lewis had a 3 inch longer reach at 84" to Wlad's 81" and yet Bruno outjabbed Lewis.

all these inches and everything are interesting. but there was a decent size difference between lewis and bruno. how tall was bruno, 6'3 i'm guessing. WK would be around 3 inches taller. bruno would look considerable smaller and that would surely daunt him.
i think a better version of lewis wouldn't have been outjabbed by bruno
also, it's like what angelo dundee always said. reach in terms of measurement isn't the gospel but how you use the reach. how you deliver the punch etc
i don't want to argue too much in WK's favor as i don't particularly like him or his brother

Brunos listed at 6'3 with an 82inch (Peters was 77, TOS 78, Sanders 77, McCline 82). Bruno was never really outboxed. I think its safe to say skill and reach wise Bruno will land allot easier than those other fighters. Brunos jab speed was pretty quick in his younger years. Maybe Wlad is the better boxer, hes still going to taste Brunos jab as he comes in.viciousmaussa wrote:i just think that wlad is a class above bruno fighting on the outside, especially in terms of punch delivery. for me that would be the difference. maybe wlad would fight scared against such a strong hulking guy and get bashed up, maybe notjamesmcdonnell wrote:Wlad is a single inch taller than Lewis, and Lewis had a 3 inch longer reach at 84" to Wlad's 81" and yet Bruno outjabbed Lewis.

Wlad doesn't take punches sometimes because of his height and reach but he doesn't have this advantage against Bruno. We saw how easily Sanders landed against Wlad - his defense is poor and when hes tagged he'll go down. Bruno ko'd with his jab and I fully believe Brunos power jab would put Wlad down. Wlads chin is that bad and Bruno did hot that hard.

The other thing to bear in mind about a fighter's reach is how much of it is arm length and how much is shoulder breadth. Lewis had broader shoulders than Bruno, being the naturally bigger man, but Bruno I'll bet had the longer arms.viciousmaussa wrote:i just think that wlad is a class above bruno fighting on the outside, especially in terms of punch delivery. for me that would be the difference. maybe wlad would fight scared against such a strong hulking guy and get bashed up, maybe notjamesmcdonnell wrote:Wlad is a single inch taller than Lewis, and Lewis had a 3 inch longer reach at 84" to Wlad's 81" and yet Bruno outjabbed Lewis.

Firstly I would want Frank to win but neither are that good.
Secondly people seem to be overhyping Bruno. At the time everyone said he was ok but nothing special. Now it seems he was a World beater. He was European class and every time he stepped up he got beat. He was a British crowd favorite because he always lost. We love a good loser but Lewis despite what he achieved is never British because he spoke with a Canadian accent!
Its a 50/50 toss up between to European standard HW!

to be fair that sanders punch was a left from the southpaw stance, it's harder to see a southpaw punch , which comes from the wrong side.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Brunos listed at 6'3 with an 82inch (Peters was 77, TOS 78, Sanders 77, McCline 82). i agree with one thing, if bruno tagged him, he would go down. bruno is better and bigger than the likes of brewster. however, if bruno were to fall behind early he would get battered and broken by those classy, precise and well delivered shots. and if brun starts to get broken down, he's no chance of winning unless he gets in a lucky shot - easier vs wlad than vs others, if you can land
if wlad could hold it together and fight an excellent, cautious fight, he would win hands down.
i've not watched that many bruno fights. what fights has he been in vs bigger men that he has to punch up to, aside from lewis?

My point is Maussa (why did you choose that name? btw), in boxing you need to take a punch to land a punch unless your a PBF or Prime ALi and Wlad is not defensively good enough to stop himself been hit. TOS, Peter, Sanders, Pannell, and to some extent Brewster and Purity all landed enough to put Wlad down.
Bruno fought a few other big men other than Lennox, obviously he fought McCall who was 6'2 with a 79inch reach, he stopped Carl 'truth Williams who was 6'4, Coetzer was 6'4, Ribalta 6'5, Emmen 6'5, Bugner 6'4, Coetzee 6'2..............then there the losses - Witherspoon 6'3, Bonecrusher Smith 6'4 - now his opponents there aren't as skillfull as Wlad BUT KO'ing a vunerable 6'6 target isn't too much of a stretch
