haye's finished
i think he was maybe carrying a slight impairment with a badly healed achilles, but clearly the timing has gone. bellew fought well, but no way he would have done that to haye. its a sad end to hayes career, im not a fan, but hes always been a brave fighter. it just wasnt there.

Re: haye's finished
He's totally gone but sounds like he might continue.
Re: haye's finished
Haye must retire forever. His body is fragile, he's worn out by injuries. That has been proved again and again.
Re: haye's finished
I'd personally like to see him continue on.
Against Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, Luis Ortiz, Povetkin, or David Price respectively

Re: haye's finished
Haye is totally shot. He was relying on his speed and athleticism, like RJJ. Since they have gone, he wasn't the same fighter anymorejamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑05 May 2018, 18:22 i think he was maybe carrying a slight impairment with a badly healed achilles, but clearly the timing has gone. bellew fought well, but no way he would have done that to haye. its a sad end to hayes career, im not a fan, but hes always been a brave fighter. it just wasnt there.
Re: haye's finished
He looked absolutely awful in there tonight. Flat footed, blowing after 2 rounds and his punch resistance also seems to have gone. Needs to retire now. Very sad way to end a great career.
Re: haye's finished
Does not have the basic fundamentals to fall back on when the youth and athleticism is no longer enough

Re: haye's finished
I’m a Haye fan. Sad ending. Obviously skint
Re: haye's finished
There are more paydays for him, Fury, Joshua etc, yes he is finished but if we wants there will be fights for him
Re: haye's finished
it was like sergio vs cotto
Re: haye's finished
Malignaggi called it in round 2. Hayes weight was on his front foot, all he could throw was the jab, there was no leverage in his right hand and he was off balance as soon as he threw it.
I’m actually sad to see Haye go. His attitude stunk, but a fit David Haye was an exciting, explosive addition to the heavyweight decision.
Sad truth is he took two big pay checks, knowing he was injured and no longer able to compete at this level. There can be no way he can fight again now.

Re: haye's finished
He must have financial worries if he is still planning to carry on after that. Not quite sure what he'd actually do as clearly he's a spent force at world level now. Can't see him wanting to be a gatekeeper and it wouldn't be viable for him financially either.
I reckon it'll take him a long while to recover mentally from that loss. After the first fight, even though he didn't use it as an excuse, deep inside he could have taken comfort from knowing that he suffered a serious injury but here he got badly beaten fair and square against a guy he thinks isn't fit to carry his jockstrap. That will be a hard one to swallow.

I think he's still a top 10 heavyweight.

Right foot not healed
Time to retire
Time to retire
Re: haye's finished
Hope he's gone for good. Never liked him...going right back to his silly, flippant Rodney King and gorilla gang-rape remarks. So much talk and hype over the years but very little action or substance.
Re: haye's finished
No credible route to anything. Put his focus on Joyce.

Re: haye's finished
He’s not fighting again. I knew from the ringwalk he was done. He walked to the ring knowing he’d never do that again.
He boxed awfully.
Tonight I finally got over whatever it was that kept me coming back for more of the Hayetrain.
Downside of Bellews victory is now he has a platform for his fat gob for a bit longer. I wish he’d just shut up and fight people. He’s a decent boxer and a nice guy until he puts his mouth in fight mode.

Re: haye's finished
He's still entertaining, still a big name. I think a fight with Price might be appealing actually. I think Haye will fancy his chances against a bigger slower man.

Re: haye's finished
Absolutely shot to fcuking sh1t, I hope he realises it, he was a GREAT fighter in his prime but it's definitely time to knock it on the head. It's sad really, imagine what the Haye who fought Enzo would have done tonight, an absolute shadow of his former self, you could see it in that media training session with the midget with block shoes on, I mean seriously?
