Post by oogiebe »

Mine are as follows with no champion as I hate sanctioning bodies:

Champion: Oogiebe

1 Joshua/Wilder
3 Pedvetkin
5 Ortiz/Parker
6 Whyte
7Jarrell Miller
8 Beazeale
9 Kwonacki
10 Pulev (despite lack of action)

aj has beaten 4 guys i rate top ten at the moment (no one else has more then 1) and wlad wouldve easily been top ten too. chances are the next guy will be either povetkin, miller, or wilder, all who are in my top 5 and would probably stay in the top 10 even with a loss.

so his resume is really good and i think hes the best anyway. i have to lol that some ppl are so adament hes been protected. all this in not even 5 years pro too

I may get frustrated at the lack of an AJ/Wilder fight, but I can't say AJ is a protected HW any longer. Not since Wlad fight. Nope...no siree.

I honestly can't tell the difference

Talking about him being in fights he's never actually in seems to be the case whether he's active or not.

I removed Pulev because he's been inactive for a year, but if he gets another fight in at some point in the not too distant future I'd agree. He's a Top 6-7ish kinda guy.

i dunno, pulevs win over chisora was 2 years ago, and his next solid win before that was 5 years ago vs thompson. he is a good fighter and clearly had a better comparative showing then whyte did vs pulev, but since pulev last beat anyone half decent whyte has beaten browne, helenius, and chisora,. chisora was a very close fight but i dont think a robbery.

pulev has also not fought in over a year, so even though i believe him to be a good fighter, i would rate him below whyte now. rankings are fluid and not just captures of who was best at there best. or who had the best win at any time

No, I assure you I haven't lost my mind. It's just that looking at the rankings I couldn't honestly say there were all that many people who had better Heavyweight wins on their resume than Bellew's wins over Haye.

I don't for one minute think that Bellew stands a chance against any of the guys at the top or even several of the guys ranked under him, but frankly his wins over Haye are better than any wins on most other Heavyweights resumes at the moment. Nobody in the division has an especially deep record at the moment so a few marquee wins goes a long way. Even if they are over a faded Former Champion.

Seriously. Give me an example of people that I don't have ranked or that I'd have ranked below Bellew who has a better win on their record. I'll bet you can't do it, but I'm willing to let you prove me wrong if you can.

Casual fans (the great majority of them) like him, border-line fans (the great majority of them) like him, as I know.
You have to accept the fact that he is among five the most popular active boxers. Should we write off him ?

No certainly not. He's an attraction, and even in spite of my personal feelings toward him I'd never suggest that a Boxing promoter should ignore a guy that's money.

I just find it odd as to WHY he's one of the most popular boxers. The only exciting fight I've ever seen him in was the Steve Cunningham fight. I guess dressing up like Batman, and acting like a complete and absolute fool makes you popular?

It's not that hard to explain. He's White and Irish. That's probably 80% of it right there.
