Boxrec list of WBA champion

Post by izabelisk »

Hi,

I don't understang why on the champions page of the boxrec website (http://boxrec.com/en/champions), for the WBA world champion column, that are the WBA REGULAR world champions that are displayed. Normally that should be the WBA SUPER world champions instead.

Everybody agree with the fact that WBA REGULAR world title has no value when there is a WBA SUPER world champion in the same category. This is why a WBA REGULAR world title holder is not considered like a legitimate world like the WBA SUPER/WBC/WBO/IBF world champions.

Boxrec should display
Hevyweight: Joshua instead of Charr
Cruiserweight: Gassiev instead of Goulamirian
Super middleweight: Grooves instead of Zeuge
Middleweight: Golovkin instead of Murata
Super welterweight: Hurd instead of Castano
Welterweight: Thurman instead of Matthysse
Super featherweight: Davis instead of Machado
Featherweight: Santa Cruz instead of Mares
Bantamweight: Burnett instead of Gaballo (here boxrec takes the interim champion that has no sense :witzend: )
Light flyweight: Taguchi instead of Canizales

Please boxrec, can you correct that.

It’s wrong to claim that “everybody agrees with the fact that WBA REGULAR world title has no value when there is a WBA SUPER world champion in the same category”, since many of GGG’s die-heard fans doggedly maintain that he’s equalled Bernard Hopkins’ middleweight title defence record, which means that both opinions are mutually-exclusive in nature.

I think that BoxRec simply needs to list both the “super” and “regular” WBA titleholders in order to appease that particular set of fight fans.

For the record, I believe that the WBA “regular” title carries no prestige or value, but there are clearly many others that don’t share the same opinion that we hold.

None of the WBA trinkets hold any kind of prestige or value.

Boxrec should stop listing them at all.

Nobody cares to ponder who is what according to their garbage system of million belts and zillion champions

Yeah. Ok, there can be 4 major belts, that even makes kinda interesting situation of champions fighting each other, that also increases the value of the undisputed championship definition. But all those "regular", "intercontinental", "silver" suck, their actual meaning is a contender to some particular belt, but that's not being a champion.
