Neither fighter has ever beaten a top 100 fighter but both are probably capable, Ugonoh got defeated in his only proper fight. Kassi has not won in his last 6 fights though he is always well over-matched.
Ugonoh probably the winner wide on points. Neither fighter are ever likely to trouble the top 50.

Kassi got robbed by Breazeale. I totally forgot how the Arreola fight went, but it was either Kassi or Harper or both that Arreola robbed.Lennox wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 10:23 Neither fighter has ever beaten a top 100 fighter but both are probably capable, Ugonoh got defeated in his only proper fight. Breazeale was also getting thrashed by Mansour before he bit his own tongueMexi-Box wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:14Kassi got robbed by Breazeale. Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
Ugonoh is pretty damn good. His loss to Beazeale will only serve as a PhD, so to speak as it gave him so much experience against a decent and far more experienced fighter. Kassi is too small; too old (yeah, Ugonoh is 32 but 38 is much older in boxing terms); and frankly, looks shot. He does have more rounds with better fighters than Ugonoh, and lasted the full 12 with Brazeale, but I can't see a way for Kassi winning, except if the gassing out issue we saw against Breazeale isn't corrected. JMNSHO.

LMFAO! You just don't expect that sort of response (yeah...I know it's true but...bit his own tongue...that has GOT to hurt).Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:30Breazeale was also getting thrashed by Mansour before he bit his own tongueMexi-Box wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:14Kassi got robbed by Breazeale. kassi got robbed vs arreola, the breazeale fight was real close, i could see a close decision for breazeale but those cards were awful
kassis fight with adamek was real close too. he may not get the wins but hes a good test for most guys

Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
Didn't catch the fight but I heard a lot of complaints about the scoring, which was freakin' wide margins. I'll try to watch a couple of rounds, sounds like total "poppycock." That's right I used "poppycock." Not sure where it came from...perhaps the scoring.
Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
if fred kassi were a well supported fighter who got a bit of hometown scoring each time out, hed probably have wins over adamek, breazeale, and arreola. hed probably have fought for a title
as it stands, he doesnt have wins over any of them and gets used as a journyeman. i guess thats life for the b-side who boxes as the opponent

Have to admit it makes sense (based on your post) for me to re-assess my response. The way you put it makes a difference.
Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
well the thing is, the realities of the boxing business mean that your description is not far off. with the hometown advantage that usually goes to his opponents, kassi needs to really clearly get the better of things by a number of rounds to get the wins, and hes too small, etc. to do that.
he may have also lost a step with age, though he still ran adamek very close

Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
Should be a good bounce back for Ugonoh. Will be interesting to see if he made adjustments.
Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
That's nice of you to note, but without regards to losses being somewhat "compromised" I couldn't make a fight out of this at all, when it could be interesting in reality.jamamb wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:55 well the thing is, the realities of the boxing business mean that your description is not far off. with the hometown advantage that usually goes to his opponents, kassi needs to really clearly get the better of things by a number of rounds to get the wins, and hes too small, etc. to do that.

if he got a dec vs Adamek it would be a a huuuuuge robbery, Adamek won clearlyjamamb wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:51 if fred kassi were a well supported fighter who got a bit of hometown scoring each time out, hed probably have wins over adamek, breazeale, and arreola. hed probably have fought for a title

i thought it was very close, i thought only a point or two for adamek, the two 6-4 cards i thought were reasonable
Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
Breazeale won the fight vs Ugonoh by pulling out a victory in dramatic comeback fashion. In fact Ugonoh was winning the fight against the one of current top-10. So, yeah, that loss wasn't that bad, probably we've not seen everything Ugonoh can suggest.oogiebe wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:36 Ugonoh is pretty damn good. He was also suffering from a cold. So by time he bit his tongue, he couldn't breathe.oogiebe wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 15:38LMFAO! Re: Izuagbe Ugonoh vs. Fred Kassi on May 25, 2018
It always intrigues me how people refer to how Mansour got injured, like he was sucking on a gobstopper and minding his own business, when he accidently chomped down on his own tongue.
Was Breazeale an innocent bystander or might Mansour almost biting through his tongue have anything to do with the big geezer teeing off on his chin/jaw area do you think? I'm pretty sure his presence in the vicinity was more than just incidental. I'm not saying he wasn't fortunate to get the win, don't misunderstand me, but I do think people are too dismissive of Breazeale's part, beside which he is much improved since then.
Ugonoh came very close to stopping the bigger man which would have propelled him into the top ten. He is a good boxer with very repectable power but maybe a few issues with his gas tank.
Fred Kassi has been a good pro but he is on a long losing run. The level of opposition has been fairly formidable for someone at his level, so it's difficult to gauge whether Big Fred is slipping or whether he is just a victim of aggressive matchmaking. Either way I don't see him troubling Izu at all but he may be there at the end.

I disagree. He had Dominick in all sorts of trouble. He basically gassed himself out in that fight which led him to getting koed. I can see Izu giving a lot of HWs trouble.Lennox wrote: ↑08 May 2018, 10:23 Neither fighter has ever beaten a top 100 fighter but both are probably capable, Ugonoh got defeated in his only proper fight.
