ESPN Classic UK

Post by KOJOE90 »

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but on SKY Channel 442 there is a 'new' channel ESPN Classic showing lots of old sports coverage.

I've had a quick look through the on screen listing and there appears to be a fair bit of Boxing inclueding Documentarys on Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, James Braddock & Jerry Quarry.

Worth checking out. :box:

I think I have seen some of this stuff before, but others may not have.

The Quarry documentary is also on at midnight tonight.

There is quite a good mix of old sports action on there actually.

Did anyone else see the Quarry documenary?

It was VERY, VERY poor.

Just highlights of the first Frazier fight and the two Ali fights, as if we have never seen those before! :o

A documentary on Jerry Quarry and they only show fights he lost!!!!

With no insights or usefull information on his career, or even a mention of his sad decline.

ESPN can I have that hour of my life back please?

The channell is great though, Superstars and worlds strongest man classics.

"I have Viking Power" what a legend he was..... and what about Grizzly Brown, I'd forgotton about that pie boy.

Why didn't anybody remake Popeye in the early 80's - with Capes as Pluto.

old school worlds strongest man is great to watch.

wasnt there a year when grizzly brown was doing really well but the last event was sonething like a 400m run whilst carrying a weight - it was an untypical strongman event and grizzly lost his lead to Sigmarsson?

(Just looked it up and it was in fact OD Wilson who was jobbed that year)..

I remember that and agree 100%

Wilson was by far the stronger if not the fitter guy that year.

I think Grizzly and Wilson were mates and Wilson is now dead, can anyone cofirm this?

Just watched this one on ESPN.

Did a Google search and apparently Jon Paul Sigmarsson died in 1993 and OD Wilson is also dead, both with heart problems.
