There were recent reports that an opponent was to be announced today.

But nada.

A couple days ago during a live Instagram video chat, Fury did come to an agreement to fight his buddy Briggs in September.

The details were apparently hammered out while Briggs was casually taking a dump.

That's seems very apropos for a fight between these two.

An absolute joke bearing in mind he's spent two years sat on his fat arse telling anyone who'd listen that he could come back and spank whoever he liked.

He'd had ten years out to be fair. Floyd had two years off and fought Marquez. Leonard had three and fought Hagler. Fury is going to be in between them and fight an absolute joke opponent.

Talk is cheap, he's coming back against a poor opponent designed to give him rounds.

TF is good for boxing. He gets media time, no matter the trash he talks. As a boxing fan, I love someone like him to come in and stir things up. His first fight or two should and will be against bums. If he looks great somehow in first fight back, things could change. He is obviously motivated. AJ will run scared; Wilder will move to fight him. Wilder can make a lot of money fighting Fury.

AJ really doesn’t want Wilder. Or Camp Eddie doesn’t. Or Fury once he’s had his warm ups.

Agree and disagree with parts of this. Having an unbeaten former heavyweight champion active is a good thing. But he shouldn't be coming back against some absolute bum. What's the point?

Not as obvious as Fury absolutely wanting no part of Wlad again. Or acting the big shot 'I'll fight anyone anywhere anytime and you'll have to drag me away in a coffin to stop me' and then pulling out against Ustinov because his uncle was ill.

And don't give me that stuff about how close they were. It's an understandable reason if he hadn't shot his mouth off in the first place. Just like when he was ranting on about Haye bottling fights and then he did the same twice to Wlad with a sore ankle and 'stress.'

Point is first fight after three years. A fighter needs to get his/her feet wet again. No one knows what to expect in first fight back.

They'll have an idea though. As said elsewhere Mayweather and Leonard had two/three years out and came back against Marquez and Hagler. Fury isn't their level but he can't come back against some total bum.

He bottled the rematch twice and his uncle died months after the Ustinov pullout.

Again, if he wants respect he could do with not slagging off fighters who get injured or use weak excuses, and then use the same weak excuses himself. Likewise, it's a better look if you're going to come back against a total no-hoper if you say 'I need to ease myself back in as I've been out a while' rather than harping on about beating Joshua and Wilder at the same time and fighting Igor the taxi driver.

He’s never bottled anything. He was sniffed out of his head at the time. Loads going on behind the scenes with Ustinov. Loads.

More excuses. A sore ankle, a coke problem, 'behind the scenes' issues, too much uncastrated boar meat. Pull the other one mate, it's got bells on it. :TU:
