Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
Fury's father and trainer Peter Fury insists they do not want to fight Joyce.
"Joyce is a very good talent," Fury told Sky Sports. "We rate him but it's not a fight we're interested in.
"Hughie is six years as a professional, and has climbed the ladder the hard way. Joyce will have to do the same.
"We're looking beyond Joyce. We're looking at getting Hughie into world contention."
Fury is coming off a twelve round decision loss to then WBO world champion Joseph Parker, who back in March lost the title to unified champion Anthony Joshua.
Joyce, who is promoted by Haye and Richard Schaefer, is hoping to get fast tracked to a world title shot.
At 32 years old and starting his professional career much later than most, he intends to push forward as quickly as possible.
"I will definitely be fast-tracked. I have started as I mean to go on," Joyce told Sky Sports.
"I started with a 10-round main event, got the Commonwealth title in my fourth fight so I plan to go on with that trajectory. There is plenty more to come. I did what was necessary."

Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
I don't think this is 'ducking'. Same as what Jarrell Miller said. He's worked his way up. I don't believe Hughie did enough to earn a world title shot, but going after the British title, it looks like he's starting again.
I've heard some on here say Joyce should get fast-tracked, kinda like Loma. Haye/Schaeffer need to dig into their pockets now to get these fights. They can call names, but non are interested in fighting him. It is risk/reward.
He needs to fight fringe level contenders.

He needs a forced going up because of his age, but I won't say, that it should be Loma-like. Joyce right now should face not top-10 guys, not somebody from the contender level, he should fight some past-prime, but still relevant big name like Adamek or Arreola.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 May 2018, 07:05 I've heard some on here say Joyce should get fast-tracked, kinda like Loma. Fury-Joyce fight is not the most smart option for both of them. For Fury it is a fight against the tough comer, who doesn't have the recognition yet for obvious reasons, but can be dangerous. For Joyce it is a fight against the much more experienced pro-boxer, who has already been a conteder and is apparently developing, so Fury can appear to be too much for Joyce.

He has had it tough has old Hughie - working 12 hours down the pit before training, taking last minute fights on the wrong side of the card for 2 and 6.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 May 2018, 06:59

Completely agree with this. Maybe not Adamek or Arreola though, although they would give it a good go too.. I would think boxers that have 'nothing to lose' but will give it a go.

Each, Ustinov, Helenius.
Any big fornicator with a good chin and a decent name.
Probably cheap as well.

Does anyone see a particular route with a governing body that Joyce should take?
Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
So I assume Hughie will be vacating the British and moving on as soon as he beats Sexton? If he does then fair enough. If he wins it and sits on the belt but refuses to fight Joyce, who has stated that he wants to fight for it, then that's a duck to me. I'd like to see them fight, but if they're not going to then Fury should crack on ASAP and get some good wins on his record.
Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
Not much to gain for fighting Joyce yet, so it makes sense.

Yeah but the same can be said for Joyce’s next 5-10 opponents!Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 13:19Hughie has everything to lose from this, whereas Joyce has a lot to gain.
There is no point him fighting at too low a level as he needs to move, so any opponent is likely to already have a higher rank - I guess that they will have to pay good money to get the right opponents
Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
Hughie's been a pro for a good while and had over twenty fights including a world title fight. If he beats Sexton his best win will probably be Sexton and Joyce, even at this stage, would be in his top three or so career best wins. It's not like he'd gain nothing.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 13:19Hughie has everything to lose from this, whereas Joyce has a lot to gain.

Before Sexton, Hughies best win is who? Guinn or Kassi or Rudenko? Probably Rudenko.
Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
I'd like to see him sit down on his shots more. He's obviously not a murderous puncher but I'd like to see a bit more spite in his work.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 May 2018, 08:04Completely agree with this. Don't think you will ever see that . It would mean he would have to plant his feet more and then leave himself open for taking more shots himself , don't think it's in the Fury psyche to fight that way .Stuarty wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 14:26I'd like to see him sit down on his shots more. If he picked his moments to attack/exchange against Parker he'd have been world champion that night and possibly have gotten the AJ fight.rd350lc wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 14:49Don't think you will ever see that . They're more established and less risky though.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 14:24You're quite right..dirk2686 wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 14:05Hughie's been a pro for a good while and had over twenty fights including a world title fight. If he beat Joyce he will have just exposed him and won't get that much credit, or people will stay Joyce needed to get used to the pros, and a loss would be a major major setback.
The risk reward for fighting someone early in their career is terrible, so there needs to be good money.

Ha ha I find this thread hilarious!
Hughie has almost zero upside in the heavyweight division.
No chance of KO'ing anybody in the top 25.
No chance of beating anyone in the top 15 ( unless he just runs all night and pitter pats a more lazy opponent ).
He has the most boring fighting style ( "Run away! Run away!" ).
Outside of being akin to Tyson, no reason for fans are drawn to him.
I'm guessing in a few years, we'll probably hear the last of him, after a few boring defeats.

Well he ran a top 5 guy mighty close already. I'm certain he will have learnt a great deal from that. Had he gone through a proper progression of opponents he may have been more attack minded....hopefully after Sexton he will do so.HeavyHitters wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 17:30 Ha ha I find this thread hilarious!

There is also the option of going for a 'World Title' instead of a World Title - Charr.
Re: Hughie Fury's Coach: "We Have No Interest in Fighting Joe Joyce"
That's a shout. I'd fancy Hughie to beat Charr comfortably.leejonesjnr wrote: ↑11 May 2018, 08:12There is also the option of going for a 'World Title' instead of a World Title - Charr.
