Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares - 12 May 2018
Quit on his stool should have been a poll option.

Nah, I expect him to try and retain his hard won belts. If Campbell could push Linares to a close-ish decision, I think Loma can do better. I have no idea of what power Loma brings at this weight either.
I'm totally on the fence
Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares - 12 May 2018
I guess, Linares and his camp won't stop that, unless they would be made to do it by doctors. If Linares will be losing clear, what is most likely, they will try to save his honor by refusing to follow the trend of surrendering. Cause Lomachenko probably won't batter him, there won't be any big health-threatining damage. So, Lineres will be eager at least achieve a staus of the figthter, who lasted the distance with Loma, in the time when everyone had a tendency to give up.

Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares - 12 May 2018
What does that mean? What if you don't have it through BT? Sounds strange.

Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares - 12 May 2018
Buzzing for this love both guys but Lomachenko is probably my fav boxer to watch ever, I love Linares too he put on a masterclass against the much less talented Gesta last time out, I thought he beat Campbell pretty wide too unlike a lot of people, he's maturing like a fine wine lol, I'm interested to see how Loma copes at the new weight especially against a skilled technician like Linares as opposed to a Beltran
As much as I rate Linares I still think Lomachenko will dominate pretty much every round, that's how much I rate Loma, he's the full package, I cant see Linares quitting on him like Rigondeaux or being pulled out like a few other recent guys so I'm expecting a distance fight, I know all Linares losses have been stoppages but if Lomachenko can get him out of there in his first fight at Lightweight then IMO it would be another step to being the greatest boxer to ever lace up gloves

Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Jorge Linares - 12 May 2018
Freddie Roach has called Linares a quitter.
Roach, who trained Linares some years back, said that the Venezuelan fighter basically gave up when he was cut in a title bout against Tony DeMarco.
Linares pretty much dominated the fight until he was cut along the nose and over the eye. After that it was all downhill and Linares was stopped in the 11th round.
Roach said that Linares panics and quits at the sight of blood and hates to be pressured. He's also unfocused and lacks a strong work ethic, Roach has added.
So if you buy what Freddie Roach is selling, Lomachenko stands a good chance of adding to his string of No Mas victims.
Lomachenko is as high as a 1-20 favorite at some books.

While he's right about the probably Loma-Linares outcome & that Linares doesn't like come-forward guys (which I already said, above)...SenorPipino wrote: ↑09 May 2018, 15:38 Freddie Roach has called Linares a quitter.

I defy anyone to watch the last three/four rounds of that & say Linares has an ounce of dog in him. He fought back against a big strong guy who he couldn't hurt until he was overwhelmed & smashed to pieces. He never stopped throwing. He never even started running, FFS... Which might've served him well, had he the wherewithal to start doing it about five rounds beforehand.
Now, if Roach was gonna say the Thompson fight is where we should be looking, where Jorge got smashed up, hurt & cut early, I'd kinda agree more on that. He was hurt & bloodied & it was like a combination of his two previous losses combined—the blasting by... Name's gone. The other Mexican dude who flattened him early. Salinas? Something like that) & his drawn-out beating against Demarco... If Roach had said "Watch the Thompson fight", I'd be inclined to give Roach's insight here more rope. The Thompson fight definitely looked like all his demons coming out.
But I thought his performance in the DeMarco fight was kinda magnificent, in a doomed sort of way. Even in the 11th he's trying to stand in front of the other fella, make him miss & counter, he just couldn't hurt him & couldn't keep him off & his head was literally falling apart (broken nose, multiple cuts, blood all over, cut inside the mouth). He was smashed to a standstill. He did not quit. In fact, you could say had he shown more self-preservation (& ring intelligence!) he'd not have suffered such a debilitating loss.
For Freddie to use the DeMarco fight like that doesn't really have much bearing IMO, 'cos like I said in my post whilst there's a very good chance Loma might just hit him & hit him & hit him until he's had enough & he can't win a round & might just then think "Fvck this for a lark", the DeMarco beating was horrific & enough for anyone to bottle it.
Which, again, he definitely definitely did not do that night.

loma might be on the small side of 135. imo pushing things too far with size may be the biggest threat right now.
at 135 maybe not linares or easter, but a guy like mikey has the ability + naturally bigger frame that could be a defeat for loma. at 140 id think several guys who are worse p4p would beat him.

Linares has been on an incredible roll for awhile now. Road warrior. He isn't going to let his belt go easily. Loma might have made his last 3-4 opponents quit, bit Linares has much more to lose.

Michael Conlan and Baby Nansen on the card
