No doubt it would be London.. O2 Arena..

It won't take place anywhere near Liverpool. No stadium. Straight up O2 Arena.

Andre Ward flatly-refused to engage in a rematch against Carl Froch if the bout wasn't staged at Wembley Stadium.

I can't imagine his stance has changed any, especially considering the fact the gate receipts would need to satisfy the American's lofty $7m+ (minimum) payday demands.

If they pay him $7m.. Bellew would likely get $1m haha. But seriously, Ward vs. Froch is still a bigger fight in the UK than Ward vs. Bellew.

Ward seems more focused on entertainment roles than boxing.

Were these guys friends?

It seems odd that Bellew would quickly throw out a challenge to a retired light heavyweight, unless he and Ward orchestrated it before hand.

You would think Bellew would be more interested in a heavyweight title shot. The Ward scenario seems prearranged.

There was negotiations last year.. Apparently Ward's demands were too high.

I have no idea. I think Ward was up for the cruiserweight limit. I can't remember.

Well Ward did say he was considering entering the heavyweight division, before he abruptly retired.

So a matchup with Bellew would be a smart way to begin.

Bellew has made himself something of a marketable name (at least in the UK) by blasting out over-the-hill Haye twice, but he's not an imposing or terrifically skilled heavyweight.

Offer Ward $10 million and I'm sure he'd cross the pond, once his acting commitments are fulfilled.

So Andre Ward earned $6.5m to engage in the Kovalev rematch and he’ll expect to command a much bigger sum than that to travel across the pond to face a British heavyweight on UK shores.

In stark contrast, Tony Bellew earned a guaranteed sum of $3.4m to engage in his rematch against David Haye, which could rise to as much as $5.7m when he is eventually paid his share of the PPV revenue.

Due to the fact that the Liverpudlian’s popularity and fight purses being on a continuously ascending trajectory during recent years, Bellew would almost certainly want to earn a career-high payday to face Andre Ward.

So in reality, we’re looking at a minimum $15m total purse pot for a potential heavyweight bout between Ward and Bellew, which means that an event staged in one of Liverpool’s venues, such as Goodison Park or the Echo Arena, is extremely unlikely, due to the potential gate receipt revenue that could be generated by those locations being deemed as insufficient.

The problem we have with a fighter like Andre Ward is that he’s not a commercially big name on either UK or even US shores. I honestly doubt that Matchroom would be willing to consider taking such a risk to stage this bout, unless the American is willing to compromise his payday demands.

As good as Ward is/was, and as much of a mess David Haye's body has been for the past year or more, Bellew-Haye is a much bigger fight than Bellew-Ward. I'd be very surprised if the fight happened if Andre's reported demands are true.

Doesn't really make sense for Hearn to potentially make a loss on an event when his fighter in question will 1) probably lose and 2) probably retire. Its not like it catapults him onto a new level in terms of earnings and Hearn and co. make money long term, as was the case when he did Bellew-Makabu at Goodison which I don't think did great business on the night.

Wasn't Andre Ward over in the UK visiting a boxing gym and doing the rounds on media not too long ago ?
Selling Ward v Bellew is a lot easier in the UK than it is in the U.S.
