Sor Rungvisai Struggling Mentally, Return To Be Postponed

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

According to Surachart Pisitwuttinan, promoter for WBC super flyweight world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (45-4-1, 40 KOs), the Thai superstar is “in mentally bad shape” after the breakdown of his 14-year relationship with girlfriend Patchareewan Kanha.

Sor Rungvisai's next title defense was being targeted for August - potentially in a rematch with Juan Francisco Estrada of Mexico.

But his promoter indicates that the boxer is in no condition to begin training for a ring return in the month of August, and is going to postpone his next defense until a later date.

“He needs time to heal and is not ready for training,” said Surachart to The Nation.

“He will be asking for the next bout which is due in the US in August to be postponed. When he is ready, he will have a press conference and resume his training."

The Nation reports that Sor Rungvisai was due to get married this month, and the relationship may have been broken as a result of a third party.

It's being claimed that Patchareewan posted a picture of herself with an unidentified man on social media, but she later removed the post.

The boxer's fans back in Thailand are stunned over the breakup, with well-known stories of how the couple stuck together in the early days of Sor Rungvisai's career - when he struggled to make money and they were forced to share packets of instant noodles for their daily meals.

It often works the other way too.

You stay with one woman for 14 years and you also find yourself "struggling mentally."

This is the same woman who was with him on the streets eating rats and other crap.. Now he's got more money than ever and fame.. Maybe she can't handle that or thinks Sor is focusing more on boxing..

To her credit, as far as I can tell with the limited info I have, this doesn't seem like a money grubbing thing. What an odd time for her to leave. She was with him through thick and thin when they were essentially scraping by on the streets. Now that all his hard work has paid off and he's hit it big, she leaves?

Field rat is a delicacy in Thailand, not crap...

F ex my Thai-wife considers it as a very best meat available and is sorry for the fact that they have become extinct (over-hunting) around her home village.

The big money coming in from 2 victories over Chocolatito and a HBO televised Estrada win must be SHOCKING to a guy from Si Sa Ket, Thailand. I'm not at all surprised that there has been friend and family division.

I am just pleased he made some good money, these lighter fighters often get paid staggeringly low amounts for these multiple unification bouts!

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai $500k, Juan Francisco Estrada $200k

Daniel Roman $200k, TJ Doheny $230,000

Jessie Vargas $1.2M, Humberto Soto $150k

Vargas was on the undercard.. got paid 7 figures.. DAZN are wasting money!!

the business model for DAZN goes over my head lol  - glad the fighters are making excellent money (after you take 10% for trainer, promoter, commission, training costs always balloon up the take in hand is significantly less)

The first bout saw Rungvisai getting a $250,000 purse and Estrada’s purse was $100,000

Amazed what they paid Vargas.

He's an ordinary contender. Not an elite by any means. And he was fighting an older, smaller man last night.

Crazy what they think $1.2 million is worth.

That was thanks to Al Haymon - prior to this fight that was roughly what he was getting fighting on PBC

I question AL sometimes especially with the AJ negotiations but he pays his fighters damn well !

The first fight was promoted by Loeffler's 360 Promotions.
