Fury is a 5 to 1 betting favorite. I'm picking Sexton.

Sexton isn't dreadful but he is strictly British level. He has a good chin, reasonable boxing skills, and no power to speak of. He has bags of heart and is very experienced. Having said all that he has no chance against Fury who is younger, fitter, bigger, faster.

Sam won't outbox him, outlast him, or overpower him. There's no such thing in heavyweight boxing as a cast iron certainty, but this is pretty damn close. Save your Roubles my friend.

5-1????

Try 40-1. Fury is -4000.

Sexton has no path to victory. Doesn’t have enough power and not nearly skilled enough to outbox him. The fact you would bet on him is 5-1 when you can get at least 30-1 is making me laugh.

It's free on C5 UK. Between this and Eurovision,
as Dylan said, sometimes it feels like you can't buy a thrill.

Still, I'll be hoping for Sexton.

Actually I haven't seen Sexton in years. He used to look pretty good though. Hughie never impressed me much. I'm not actually betting on him, just picking him. Just a silly guess, what do i know? If he loses everybody will forget i said it; but if he - Sexton- wins I'll bump the thread and say, Wow look how smart I am!

I don't deal with bookies. If I wanted to bet with some crooked book I'd call up my old friend who I think is still in the business, but I don't.

No - Thank you, I didn't know there was an undercard fight on 5 Spike until you mentioned it. It wasn't bad at all (McDonnagh v Kramer) although the verdict was controversial.

Sexton was never more than domestic level mediocrity. Fury isn’t great but this is a guy that fought Parker on even terms so I’d say he’s pretty damn solid.

Right now I see -6600 on Fury. Sexton must really be the dregs these days.

But if you somehow fancy him you can only get +1200 back. No +3000 back diddy on Sexton.

The bookies aren't that dumb to blow off that kind of price on the 'dog.

I didn't see it but from what I've been reading, it won't even be in the running for the fight of the day.

Fury wins a rather pedestrian affair over 66-1 underdog Sexton.

Never having seen Sexton before I was impressed with the way he relentlessly kept plodding forwards into Fury's shots. The way he resolutely stuck to losing tactics, despite no indications of success, showed great focus if not intelligence.

The stoppage in the fifth must have come as a great surprise to him. What went wrong? Incredible that someone can enter a boxing ring with footwork as slow as Sexton's.

Fury on the other hand fought reasonably well on the back foot, but with that lacklustre style - who's going to pay to watch him?

It wasn't bad was it? There was only ever going to be one winner but I thought Hughie performed very well. We all knew he could box and move but it was nice to see some spite in his punches.

That was what was missing from his performance against Parker. I can understand why team Fury thought he'd won it, but you can't take a man's title by refusing to engage.

I'm not going to get carried away. It was only Sam Sexton who is a good, honest domestic level pro, but this was a good performance from a talented boxer. He has already demonstrated that he's not out of his depth at world level, and he and his team appear to have absorbed the lessons of the Parker decision. At 23 Hughie is only going to get better.

Typical isn't it. As a Brit I spend half my life waiting for a British heavyweight that can impact the top ten, then like buses they all come along together.

If you had seen Sexton before you’d have realised he’s probably the tenth best British heavyweight right now. Hughie was always going to beat him with relative ease, he’s way above Sextons level.

It depends on how you define a good fight. If a good fight has to be highly competitive with the winner in doubt up until the later stages, then no, it wasn't a good fight.

If a good fight can be the efficient despatch of a willing yet markedly inferior opponent, then you could say it was very good. I found it at no point less than entertaining and I was pleased that Hughie showed progression certainly in his approach to the - admittedly far less daunting - task.

I finally got to watch part of it, the first couple of rounds, thanks to joe BS boxer. Question: when a guy just stands there with his left hand hanging down like Hughie Fury, why not just dive in with a right hook instead of standing outside jabbing? These guys are lucky I'm not still around.
