Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
I thought Loma would beat Garcia before the Linares fight but considering that Garcia does everything better than Linares, I think Garcia would cause Loma some serious problems. I pick Garcia to win. Garcia has timing, he can time Loma sidesteps and head movement and land pinpoint right hands. Lomachenko will be in with a concussive puncher here. Coming in at 138 pounds vs Linares is very small indeed. It's a tough fight, both guys are too good to get shut out. Although we would have said that a prime James Toney is too good to lose every round of a fight and that is exactly what happened vs Roy Jones.
Re: Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
I favoured Loma against Garcia before the Linares fight, but, I guess, I favoured him less, than the most of people did. I thought, it would have appeared to be competetive bout. Now, after the Linares fight, I still slightly favour Loma, I'm just more sure, that it will be a tough fight for both of them.
Re: Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
I think Loma would outbox him, but Garcia would hit too hard, and eventually get the KO, unless Loma really learns to fight safer.

No, I’ve always favoured Garcia in that matchup, last night certainly didn’t change my mind. Tough fight for both men obviously, but Garcia is just too big for Loma imo.

I think that's the key, Lima has the ability, speed and everything else to make Garcia and anyone else miss all night if he wanted to.

I don't think Loma drops Garcia either ...

Lomachenko should stay at lightweight for awhile.
Garcia can wait.

All depends on weight.
We saw a 138 pound Lomachenko stop a 153 pound Linares last night.

loma is too small
for lw hes not tall, has a very short reach, and 138 on fight night will see him probably at least around 10 pounds less then any of the top guys
stopping 15 pound heavier linares shows his excellent ability, but imo the moments linares had shows that lw isnt likely lomas best weight. the shot that dropped im not so sure he was even hurt as much as it was a much bigger guy almost 'pushing' him down with the shot

I'd really like to see Loma drop back down - there's too much pressure in this era for fighters to prove their credentials by rising through the divisions rather than simply becoming king of their natural weight class and maintaining that dominance.
Despite last night's win he clearly isn't a natural Lightweight and I wouldn't be shocked if he could still make Featherweight even. I'd happily see him take care of the likes of Davis and Berchelt, rather than lose to a technically inferior fighter because he's fighting way out of his weight class.

i agree, davis and berchelt are unfinished business at 130. loma wasnt really even that big at 126. giving up a stone at lightweight is huge, and i dont think linares is even the biggest lw
id guess hell at least unify vs beltran at 135, but he might go down later. the linares fight couldve been a wake up call in terms of weight and also maybe not clowning so much

Re: Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
I think Garcia is arguably the best at 140 too if he stays there. The point is I can see loma hanging with 140 pounders, although size becomes even more of a problem. I don't see someone like broner having much chance with loma, even with his size. Its when you get to the top 147 pounders like Spence that you can say loma is a pretty heavy underdog.

Skybet going 1/4 loma vs 11/4 Garcia ![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)
Re: Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
Betting is a completely different animal. What are the odds for Garcia KO? Loma KO? Garcia Dec? Loma Dec?
Re: Did you change your mind on Lomachenko vs Mikey Garcia
would absolutely slam garca at those odds. although hardly a sure thing the fight happens imo
