The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
I have no dilemma about the most overrated fighter on this forum - Brook.
I can not decide about the most underrated one, there are two fighters sharing the first position - T. Fury and Wilder.
What do you think about ?

I have to agree with Brook as bring overrated.
Since his win over Lemieux, BJ Saunders is also being slightly overrated. The thing with that though is, he was hardly rated before that due to lack of action and poor performance.

agree bjs went from underrated to a overrated. now hes schooling ever mw in the world! but go watch how dffernet ggg-lem and ggg-jacobs were.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 14:54I have to agree with Brook as bring overrated.

I rate GGG highly myself, not to the point where I sing his praises all the time.
Have to say though, whilst he slightly gets overrated on these forums, there is a handfull of people that simple don't like him and not on the so-called "GGG Hypetrain"..
I agree with the Canelo lol
Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
and for me tank davis is underrated in that i really think hes a special talent but he seems to only get rated as pretty good. tbf though he hasnt really proven himself to match my opinion, but i do think he will if he gets the chance
also until recently jamie cox and eubank were at the top of the overrated list for british boxers, not brook.
if actually seen a lot of hate for brook. i notice that he started getting hate when matched with ggg, from the ggg haters, and then hate from the spence fans, who a lot seem to be ggg haters for some reason (probably race)
and also from the khan fans out there lol.

I think Canelo is more under appreciated than underrated.jamamb wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 14:57agree bjs went from underrated to a overrated. now hes schooling ever mw in the world! but go watch how dffernet ggg-lem and ggg-jacobs were.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 14:54I have to agree with Brook as bring overrated.

Everyone knows he's a great fighter, but because he's the new Golden Goose fighter, everything seems to be in his favour, much to the annoyance of fair minded fans.

Without regard to my own view, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are no doubt, the two most over and underrated fighters. They are the source of most of the heated debates I've seen on these threads.

wilder used to be wildly underrated but i think after the ortiz win hes been rated much more in line with reality. aj has generally been rated pretty highly and thats still the case, though i think some lowered there opinions of him too much simply because he didnt blast out parker. aj deserves a very high ranking and has an outstanding hw resume for how long hes been pro.
Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
Nice post Jamamb. I was really referring to the casuals battling out who wins with these two guys. Each side is so exaggerated that, to me, they are the two most polarizing and thus, most over/underrated. Hard to explain in print without it becoming a dissertation.jamamb wrote: ↑14 May 2018, 15:28 wilder used to be wildly underrated but i think after the ortiz win hes been rated much more in line with reality. aj has generally been rated pretty highly and thats still the case, though i think some lowered there opinions of him too much simply because he didnt blast out parker. aj deserves a very high ranking and has an outstanding hw resume for how long hes been pro.

and actually i think kovalev got a bit underrated after the ward fights. basically he easily couldve won the first fight and put ward on his ass. the rematch was pretty much even till the end. he actually outboxed ward from the outside many rounds. so between two fights with ward, they basically almost split the rounds. ppl need to realise how impressive it is to do that vs an atg awesome boxer like ward. thats super.
and remember kov was UNDERDOG for both ward fights! so many predictions that hed get schooled and hardly win a round, but then when hes highly competitive its istfko 'oh, overrated all along' / 'hes been ruined'
and then ppl go on about how he only wants to fight bums now, even though barrera turned him down twice as a comeback opponent and took less money vs bivol, and then he makes a fight with browne, and now another good contender in alvarez

I've seen far too much unwarranted love for Povetkin and Ortiz (pre-Wilder) on here over the years.
Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
Wilder and Canelo are way overrated.
Kownacki too.
BJS is also bit overrated at the moment.
Underrated is bit more difficult.
Andy Ruiz comes to mind.
Jacobs?
Eubank?

Over rated Dilian Whyte
He's praised for his clear no loss to Joshua
A controversial win over trial horse Chisora
And 2 faded fringe contenders in Helinus and Browne.
He's a lower level contender with numerous flaws and a weak resume.

It is pretty accurate. Most either think he's unstoppable or can't beat a legitimate top 10 fighter.
I rate him damned near even with Joshua.
But I'll admit he is a knock out waiting to happen.
One thing is for sure hrs fun to watch. You never know what to expect

Eubank jr was overrated...I bought into it. Since groves...it’s clear now by most he’s not his father, he’s not what he thinks he is and it’s a real shame he’s getting another opportunity on the big stage replacing groves.
Bjs came off a great lookig win,but Lemieux flattered him. I really think Lemieux has very poor boxing skills. Bjs, great personality, solid and sneaky fighter, we need to see him perform again agaisnt a good opponent. Murray’s not doing him any favours. Murray was meant to retire after the groves fight when it was evident he couldn’t let his hands go.

Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
Too many people dont realize how much the face-busting/confidence-busting losses to GGG and Spence took out of Brook. He's clearly not the same fighter he was before those 2 losses. He did look good vs Rabchenko, but the Belarusan had already been demolished by Tony Harrison, who is nothing special.
Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
I still have to stop myself under rating Russell Jr and Badou Jack. That might change after the Stevenson fight.
I have to try to stop overrating Kownacki and Callum Smith.
It's already been mentioned about overrating Kownacki- probably aimed at me
I don't rate Whyte or Easter Jr.

Re: The most overrated/underrated fighters on this forum (2018) ?
Kownacki seems to appear in quite many top HW lists now days.
He had tough fight against former cruiser in Kiladze who had already lost to Kalenga.
He gets way too much respect for beating Szpilka who is only half step better than Mike Mollo.
Nothing that warrants any kind of high ranking so far.
The main problem is that he seems to eat punches like he eats everything else.... Way too much![[icon_twisted.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)

Underrated: Jarrell Miller. Forget what he looks like, he has real skills! Dark horse of the division. Could beat all the top guys.
