Yeah, I've been reading a lot of comments about Lomachenko being severely disadvantaged by engaging in a "David vs. Goliath" type bout against the alleged "much larger" Linares, but the actual figures don't support their embellished version of events.
I have to agree with you. 152??? No way.
Sounds like propaganda to enhance his legend.

It probably was. Linares was definitely only 141lbs, which isn't much heavier than Lomachenko's 138lbs.

Isn't the fight night weight usually documented? I guess maybe not with ESPN. Seems like they forgot how to cover boxing.

The 152 pound figure didn't seem at all far-fetched to me. Linares looked significantly larger, and as far as I was aware he had a history of weighing right around that on fight night.

Team Linares say that the 152lbs figure being quoted by the media must have been a mistake.

He only weighed 141lbs and Jorge doesn't even know where the 152lbs figure came from.

Bob Arum seemed pretty annoyed with the journalist asking a question related to the 152lbs figure that was based on either idle gossip or a mistake.

Watch the post fight press conference. There's no point in guessing what is or isn't far fetched when you can gain the information from the proverbial horse's mouth.

Linares only weighed 141lbs against Lomachenko.

I doubt it.... Linares looked big. He looked freakin' huge.

Linares was the biggest looking Lightweight since Terence Crawford... How the Hell did Crawford make Lightweight weighing 153.. He looked like a freakin' Middleweight stepping into the ring.. Beltran gaped at him.. I was a Heavyweight and I'd never be able to fight if I had to cut my weight by 14% for a weigh-in.. Only 33 pounds to go.. That's insanity.

Oh wow cool an actual heavyweight boxer on this forum. What’s your record like? What’s your name, I’ll look you up on boxrec. So exciting, I’m sure you know a lot about boxing and have pretty realistic observations and opinions to share.

But they're the self-interested party. Why would they want to say, "Yeah, our guy had a gigantic weight advantage but still got knocked out"?

There's no reason for anyone to assume they're lying.

Just watch the post fight press conference with your own eyes and draw your own conclusions about the honesty of Team Linares.

It seems that you're trying to "read between the lines", without bothering to even look at the lines.

No wonder he lost, that's only double his birth-weight :D

Seriously, I think Lomachenko is very special. I don't know if he beats Mikey or not, but as good as Mikey undoubtedly is, the reason for my uncertainty is definitely the size/weight disparity.

I don't quite understand the punchline? Have the "1" and the "l" characters somehow merged due to your eyesight? I also suffer from that occasionally.

There's just as much of a reason for them to lie as there is for a member of Top Rank.

In that instance, I'll use my eyes. I have a much easier time believing Linares weighed 152 than 141 based on what I saw in the ring. He's been a Lightweight 6-7 years now. You think he only cuts 5 or 6 pounds?

I would rather see Loma vs Garcia rather than Garcia vs Easter Jr.

Garcia might have some size advantage sure, but Loma's skill and ability to adjust shouldn't be taken too lightly.

..no idea what was Linares weight on fight night...having said that, the claims his team or ANY team for that matter can make will be the least reliable source I can think of..

Unverifiable claims stated by people don't matter to me all you had to do was watch them fight to see that Linares was the larger man.
