Re: Hughie Fury vs. Sam Sexton - 12 May 2018
Fury showed a clear preference for moving to his left, but Sexton was too slow of foot to ever cut him off with lead rights; maybe if he'd been in his prime... Joyce is actually taller, as Hughie's in the 6'4" range, but would he have the insight and speed to cut off those escapes from one of the slipperiest customers...
Whyte's an interesting opponent because he'd definitely fancy it, but he's a relative plodder who'd struggle with Fury's mobility. There'd be tons of clinching as he ploughed into Hughie's arms like vintage Gere versus Swayze.

Hughie Fury vs. Sam Sexton Generates Big Rating
The whole broadcast over 5Spike and Channel 5 reached 2.9 million!! Excellent news.
I take it the 2.9m is a peak figure, which would have been the Main Event.

As I saw it , Hughie lost in a close one to Parkermickey1975 wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 13:12Are they both streets ahead of Parker then. They’d do the same to AJ in that case!
Joshua beat Parker clearly
Styles make fights , as you well know .

i dont know that either would stop him. hes pretty good defensively and if they are steaming ahead hed probably go into ultra negative mode wheres hes gonna be very hard to land much clean on.
idont think either joyce or whyte are really big time punchers either, imo theyd both need an accumulation and hughie would probably be good enough defensively not to let it happen.
i think hughie has plenty of skill and dont think hed get blown out by anyone but maybe the very top, and even then i can see him giving a guy like wilder some fits before being stopped. hes absolutely horrible to watch, even worse then tyson, but hes good.

I'm waiting on Fury to fight a real threat. I don't consider Parker that kind of threat. Let him fight Miller and we'll see what he's made of. (PS: Not a miller fan either).jamamb wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 13:57 i dont know that either would stop him. hes pretty good defensively and if they are steaming ahead hed probably go into ultra negative mode wheres hes gonna be very hard to land much clean on.

parker is lower-mid top 10 imo, i dont rate him all that high but i dont think there are many guys who are far better then him. miller i think is better though and if hughie wasnt getting off against parker a guy like miller who is very strong and constantly applying preassure would be a big problem.
but hughie i think despite what may be some mental issues with the lack of application in fights is imo still very skilled in some respects, particularly defensively, and the negative mindset can make it tough to land much on him. i think pretty much everyone in the division would struggle to land on him and if he can take a punch hed be very difficult to stop, certainly more then guys like helenius, lewison, etc, who already took joyce and whyte several rounds.
personally i think hughie beats pretty much everyone outside the top 15 handily and can beat some other contenders, but hes not an elite fighter

I could agree with that. It also shows the lack of depth in the division. Six months to a year form now, Hughie may find himself on the outside looking in as some young guys (Dubois; Schwarz; Kabayel ) and older prospects (Joyce eand maybe Uzyk) will be on the proverbial radar.jamamb wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 14:07 parker is lower top 10 imo, i dont rate him all that high but i dont think there are many guys who are far better then him. miller i think is better though and if hughie wasnt getting off against parker a guy like miller who is very strong and constantly applying preassure would be a big problem.

i dont think hes looking from the outside in to guys like dubois and schwarz in that short of time. look how there being moved, not really at that fast a rate at all. and i think hes quite a bit better then schwarz. not sure about how good dubois really is yet
id like to see him fight kabayel actually, kabayel has been in the fury camp before so they know each other well i think. hughie might struggle to get good fights because hes a risky opponent who will probably stink it out and make you look bad even if you beat him, and if you do beat him its not exactly like it will be regarded as some really great win

Should be 6 months to a year, for Schwarz (to do or die). 12 to 18 months for Dubois. I'm considering Kabayel a comer now. His next fight will show more of what he's made of like when he met and crushed Miljan Rovcanin, who went 10 with Dimitrenko (who I don't like but a good stepping stone). I expect a statement type of performance by Kabayel soonjamamb wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 14:15 imo no way hes looking from the outside in to guys like dubois and schwarz in that short of time. look how there being moved, not really at that fast a rate at all. and i think hes quite a bit better then schwarz. not sure about how good dubois really is yet

I still expect we'll hear some noise from Oscar Rivas. He is getting more active and if over this eye issues can be a wrench in the works for HW's 10 - 20.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 14:19Should be 6 months to a year, for Schwarz (to do or die). 12 to 18 months for Dubois.
