Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
The role is: Head of media
Anyone qualified for that here?
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
Must be well dressed, smarmy, self assured and have up to date teeth whitening certificates. A douchebag haircut and rich father would be advantageous

Seriously, do you reckon that’s all it is? Matchroom’s current media guy, Anthony Lever (not sure if he’s moving on) works very hard.
Constantly drafting press releases, programme notes, arranging press conferences / liaising with the written & broadcast media both in the UK & overseas. It’s rare he’ll get time to pause for breath. A rewarding and prestigious gig for sure, but a tough one also where you’ll need tenacity, talent as well as a good degree of patience.
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
It's a bit high level for me. I do think I could be useful as a Twitter editor so they don't get another Davies situation again.
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
I felt tired just reading that. A tough gig but rewarding for the right type of person

Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
It sounds like they are actually looking for something VERY specific, would think they'd be better using some sort of headhunting agency type thing than putting out a general advert like that?
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
i feel like that general call is gonna invite plenty of piss taking applications
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
It'd be interesting to know what sort of salary a role like that commands. I'd imagine it'd be a pretty full on job with very unsociable hours. Probably sounds a lot better than it would be in reality.

If he promoted and advertised Matchroom shows the same way he does his own then that would probably do the trickBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 15:49If Mick wants to put his biggest competition out of business, that could well be the quickest way

That role generally pays between £50-£70 in most businesses im guessing you'd be expected to do a lot more than 40 hours 9-5 for this, it'll be a least £100k I'd imagine
Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
There would also be a lot of travel I expect. That can take it's toll for sure. Definitely the company to work for in that industry, and apart from the long hours etc, it would be a dream job for many boxing fans. I wonder if there would be much stray clunge involved?Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 17:29That role generally pays between £50-£70 in most businesses im guessing you'd be expected to do a lot more than 40 hours 9-5 for this, it'll be a least £100k I'd imagine

Re: Matchroom Boxing are Hiring!
Head of Media for the Welsh Rugby Union doesn't pay anywhere near 70k a year.
It's a hard job, dealing with plums day in day out. The professional press are a nightmare to deal with, on top of that with boxing you seem to get all these "internet journos" that are nothing more than guys that love boxing and think being a journo is easy.
Some are decent, some are dicks.
Plus working for Eddie isn't an attractive proposition really is it?
Wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. How do you sell Haye v Bellew 3?

I'm guessing there isn't mega bucks for anyone in Rugby, I imagine the same position at the FA would pay a fortune.CharlesListon wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 18:36 Head of Media for the Welsh Rugby Union doesn't pay anywhere near 70k a year.
