Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
So I've been watching Simon Kean for a couple of years and was happy that he was stepping up to fight Braidwood in June. Not really being familiar Braidwool, I did some research (ok, I watched a lot of vids on the guy) and now I'm more in the Braidwood camp. The guy's a beast! Any thougts???
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Ok, he ain't that great, but he could have a shot.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Braidwood is strong and fast, but there are fundamental flaws in almost all of his movements. I think a skilled fighter would knock him down non-stop with as off-balance as he constantly is, and outjab the crap out of him with how weird his jab is.
Kean and Braidwood both keep their hands pretty low. Seems like one of them would knock the other one out pretty early on.

Could be a good entertaining fight. Just hope it makes it to TV during the coverage.Lackeos wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 22:58 Braidwood is strong and fast, but there are fundamental flaws in almost all of his movements. Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Braidwood is a tough man if not particularly skilled, and he's a good test for Kean at this stage.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Yes I don't expect him to beat Kean but he's a live one alright. He is not exactly polished but he'll come looking to win.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
braidwoods a former pro us style football player and to me as a boxer he looks like a big, strong, natrually athletic guy who could do well in a lot of sports probably on that, but as a boxer he seems to be lacking the schooling and experience and relaxation in the ring, which is often the case with late starters from other sports. basically like a jock who decided to suddenly become a pro boxer.
hes been fed mainly much smaller south americans and i think for good reason. hell probably lose to pretty much every top 50 hw i figure, though hes a powerful guy and can maybe catch a few and cause some problems, but i expect pretty much anyone respectable to be too well schooled for him
although that said, for an olmpic quarter finalists simon kean looks pretty damn crude too.

Great post Jam. I'm rather looking forward to seeing this fight. Wondering if Kean bit off more than he can chew, as he is not difficult to hit.jamamb wrote: ↑16 May 2018, 14:47 braidwoods a former pro us style football player and to me as a boxer he looks like a big, strong, natrually athletic guy who could do well in a lot of sports probably on that, but as a boxer he seems to be lacking the schooling and experience and relaxation in the ring, which is often the case with late starters from other sports. basically like a jock who decided to suddenly become a pro boxer.

Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
It will be the main event so it will get tv coverage locally
I've seen all their fights. Braidwood is the offensive oriented ko artist who needs more polishing. Kean also has power... Slightly more polished and tested. I agree it's a good test for Kean after all the trash talk between the two.
Ultimately because Kean was more tested vs slightly better opposition, we already saw he had a very very average chin being down vs pretty bad opposition. Kean will have to be smart, compact and use the straight punch arsenal for superior reach... Particularly his better lead hand. Can't let Braidwood get on the inside and let his more explosive hands go...

Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
I live in Edmonton, Canada. I have seen all Braidwood's fights but his last one against Hugo Leon. His only loss was a brutal KO to A mid 40s fighter named Lee Mein. He had no business losing that one. I was there at the fight. He has vastly improved. I wasn't too high on him until He beat Eric Martel Bahoeli. I thought he would get crushed & he scored the KO win. I like Braidwood & this fight with Kean is the biggest Canadian HW fight since Neven Pajkic & Greg Kielsa. Not for the Canadian title but 2 born & bread Canadian boxers who are going to slug it out. As much as I like Braidwood I think he is taking a huge step up. Kean has the amateur background & has an impressive win over Nascimento who is a decent journeyman on the world scene. I think Kean is the real deal & he has a good management team in Quebec plus he is actually born there so he will have huge support. I think Braidwood will get exposed & knocked out early. Kean looks to be on the cusp of moving above the domestic level whereas I believe Braidwood will peak at Canadian/domestic level. Kean by vicious KO. Braidwood will come out swinging & try to make it a brawl but he has questionable stamina & I'm not sure I see him being able to handle Kean's power...oogiebe wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 18:33 So I've been watching Simon Kean for a couple of years and was happy that he was stepping up to fight Braidwood in June. I've only have 4 or 5 of Kean's fights in my collection. Who did he get dropped by?TheBeast wrote: ↑18 May 2018, 09:49 It will be the main event so it will get tv coverage locally

Nice post Joe. Braidwood does look like he gets gasses if he doesn't take out his foe early.joe strong wrote: ↑18 May 2018, 14:39I live in Edmonton, Canada. Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Not a knockdown but maybe that's why someone thought he was floored.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
he was ktfo in the amaters by ytalo perea (http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/646375). perea actually beat breazeale in his next fight at that tournament. perea was a good amateur and his pro career is a big disappointment in comparison.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Thanks for that Jammy, I'd not seen that before. Does that raise a question about Kean's chin? I guess once seen, it is impossible to ignore the sight of Kean being separated from his senses, but I'm not sure too many fighters could have taken that and remained standing. That was some left hook from Perea and the one that preceded it was none too shabby either.
It's a bit academic in view of the way it finished, but that scoring struck me as nonsensical. Kean was boxing his ears off in the first couple of rounds and the round scores are 2-1 and 3-3 WTF ???!!!
I often think these amateur bout judges would do almost as good a job if they kept their eyes closed thoughout.

Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Braidwood is trash.... if Kean can't come up with a definitive, impressive KO within the first 3-4 rounds, he should prolly forget about pursuing higher levels.
Re: Adam Braidwood v. Simon Kean
Well he's no stylist but 'trash' is a bit harsh. Trash as a technical boxer, maybe. Trash as a fighter? Well I guess we are going to find out.
Even if he is I'm going to leave it to you to tell him![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
