What the hell is this?

Make some decisions! Make some fights!

What is wrong with the BBBofC? It's being run into the ground.

The British title has become 3rd rate. It's at the level the English title should be. It's a joke now.

The actual fights they bothered to order:
HEAVYWEIGHT

SAM SEXTON (Holder) v HUGHIE FURY

The above voluntary defence contest to be promoted by Mick Hennessy, will take place on Saturday, 12th May 2018 at the Macron Stadium, Bolton.
Done.

Looks like Hughie is likely to vacate and the Board will possibly fanny around for a year or so before getting two fighters to agree to fight for it.

The English heavyweight title has not been fought for in over 5 years. The Board don't seem to care at all about keeping their titles active.
LIAM WILLIAMS v ASINIA BYFIELD

The Stewards decided to put out the above contest to purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12:00noon on Wednesday, 13th June 2018, the contest to take place by the end of September 2018.
Byfield seems like a pretty awful mandatory challenger.

No one else wanted a shot at the title?
WELTERWEIGHT

BRADLEY SKEETE (Holder)

GARY CORCORAN v PADDY GALLAGHER

The Stewards decided to put out the above eliminator contest to purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12:00noon on Wednesday, 13th June 2018, the contest to take place by the end of September 2018.

JOSHUA KELLY v JOHNNY GARTON

The Stewards decided to put out the above eliminator contest to purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board’s Head Office by 12:00noon on Wednesday, 13th June 2018, the contest to take place by the end of September 2018.
It's almost been a year since Skeete defended the title though, so why has it taken the Board so long to make an eliminator?

How long is this elimination tournament going to take (if that's what this is) and how likely is it that someone pulls out?

The winner of the tournament would have more credibility than Skeete does at the moment, so hopefully the fights go ahead.

Corcoran v Gallagher is solid.

And have you seen Byfield Horse? He is a very capable lad.

The board often make eliminators but not many happen. By winning a eliminator it doesn't guarantee a title shot. So people withdraw and hope for a straight shot. Kelly garton won't happen imo

I've read some positive things, but can't recall watching him.

His record is not very good though, so he's a weak challenger for the title as far as I'm concerned.

I agree -but what's the point then?

A champion should defend their title every 6 months (unless they are injured) - if a champion does not defend their title in 12 months (for whatever reason - including injury), then the title should be declared vacant.

There should also be a proper system of eliminators - which guarantee the winner a title shot within 6 months.

Surely there must be loads of boxers who would love to box for a British title? - the titles are either being "land-banked" and not defended, or lads who are at best British-Title level are too busy on Twitter saying how good they are, looking for some WBO-EU shot that would get them a "World ranking".

The sport is mad!
