Sky/BT.....

Post by Stuarty »

Who has the best stable?

Sky have more names but there's a big show this weekend that would've been PPV if it were on Sky and in Frampton, Fury and BJS BT have 3 of our bigger stars.

Eddie knows how to sell and put on a show etc..., but Frank has been quietly creeping up and arguably has the better stable in my opinion.

What do you think?

Frank is a legend promoter. He's always been there. He was always the number 1 promoter ahead of Barry Hearn and whoever else was around.

He does have a good stable and initially, just being on Box-Nation, there wasn't much hype for his events, because they were only being promoted on that channel. With BT, I have to admit, there is more promotion being done.

You're right, Hearn would have slapped Selby-Warrington on ppv

Also with Sky, they have their own bloody news channel, which a lot of sports fans tune into.

BT don't have a sports news channel.

What I think Frank needs to do is get his fighters out there more, get some appearances in on morning shows, appear on the shows with them, like he did Fury recently (not that he needed to be there with Fury)..

The 3 you mentioned are big stars, but you have to admit, BJS is little-known compared to Tyson and Frampton, and that's a shame.

Sorry mate, I've just rambled on. :yay: :yay:

i highly doubt that show would be on sky ppv especially with that undercard, it would do worse numbers than kell brook/gavin and that had a few world title fights also AJ on it. fish eyes is a piss poor promoter nowadays, and imo the whole card is going to stink the joint out

Nah mate, some good points there :TU:

The news channel point you made is a good one. BT should have a news channel like Sky. Frank should push them to show more boxing content as well, there was a show last night with Fury, BJS and Frampton and as far as I can see it's not repeated until Friday or Saturday! They repeat UFC shows all the time. Frank should lean on them to show more boxing content......

Frank is very close if not ahead of Eddie in terms of over all stable. But Sky sells better than BT and as said matchroom would of had this as PPV but the card would of been a lot better and would of sold more on the gate. Warrington wold of been all over sky sports news soccer am ect drumming up the Leeds fans.

Would be good if BT took on most of the allegedly content with the ufc and made a BT combat channel or something. Frank could shut down allegedly and just concentrate on promoting and building a decent stable for himself/BT not on keeping a channel going. They could have Bunces hour, Boxing matters ect

I admit the undercard isn't there, but this fight is quite similar to Quigg vs. Framton. But again Quigg-Frampton got much much more media attention through sky sports news.

No, didn’t wow HBO or pop jr’s Cherry, or qualify for Olympics at 17. Conor Benn is probably bigger.

To be fair it also got more attention because it was a better fight. I don't think anyone thinks Josh Warrington is world class, unless he proves it Saturday.

Sky make their shows bigger by having the ability to promote them endlessly on their free news channel in sky sports news.

I don't subscribe to sky sports,bt sports or BN because I am a tight feck. So whilst this isn't PPV it isn't exactly free to air. Sky tend to show their PPV fights a week or so later on their free sports channel sky sports mix.

If BT were smart they'd get a free news channel to rival the poor sky sports wank over money spent on players news. And build their cards/fights that way. Then it would be sensible to release them a few days later on YouTube for people like me to watch.

especially if they could put a news channel onto freeview like sky sports news used to be but the channel would almost have to run at a loss as I think sky sports news does

He did all those things but he's not a big star. You know your viewing figures. His last world title fight did absolutely shite numbers and he had a world title fight in a leisure centre.

He's good but he's pretty unknown and fairly hard to sell.

Yeah I agree that he wasn't a big star but I think that has changed a bit since the Lemeiux fight. That fight there will have won him over a lot more people, although he was already a world champion that was his break through fight for me

And he's following it up with a fight against Martin Murray. It's hardly a sign of it being a breakout fight and it was watched by about 30,000 people in the U.K. Literally less than half of the audience Joshua gets actually attending his fights.

It was the sort of fight that makes people who watch boxing sit up and take note but that's about it. Same with loads of FW fighters. Flanagan is another example. People in general don't know who they are and have rarely seen them fight.

Why do you care? If it did massive numbers you'll burble on about that being because Saunders is wildly popular. You tried this trick by saying Joshua Wlad did well in the U.K. because a U.K. audience wanted to see how much Wlad had left and everyone laughed at you.

He get's over-hyped on here a lot since that fight, TBH, he hasn't fought since.. I'll keep an eye on BT figures. I'm assuming he should do his best numbers. Murray has been on Sky Sports a lot, he's not a big name in the UK, but he's been around.

Eddie has a far better stable if fighters for me. At all levels (big ticket sellers, championship fighters, prospects etc.). Am I missing something?

Dork, you get laughed at constantly. CP even shamed you into not mentioning Tyson’s name because you were so embarrassed at being shown for what you are!
