Pretty sure BJS was 19 at the Olympics not 17.
Re: Sky/BT.....
Depends on whether this is a question about ability or sales? Khan and Brook may not have that long left but they're obviously pretty well known. Saunders could beat both in a night but he's still struggling to shift tickets.

I’ve seen Kell box in front of pitiful crowds.

You’ve mentioned it.... are you trying to break your Tyson stats with this?dirk2686 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 13:04I've seen BJS defend his world title in a leisure centre. Do I win?
Re: Sky/BT.....
What point are you trying to make? Because 'I once saw Kell Brook fight in front a small crowd' doesn't really mean he's not popular. Your 'logic' with these tends to be along the lines of 'Messi isn't that popular; I saw him play for Barcelona under 16's and there were about two hundred people there.'mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 13:20You’ve mentioned it.... are you trying to break your Tyson stats with this?

Seen Kell in title fights in your hated leisure centres many times, too, and know him personally! BJS turned over in an arena on Sky Box office. He’s been a star all along, deal with it.

Maybe he does but there were a people thinking Saunders was gonna get sparked in that fight and to go over there in his back yard and take him to school was a great performance. I believe it has got him more fans we will just have to see by the numbers in his next fight. I can't see it doing great numbers but that's because the quality of opposition isn't great. Of course he's not a AJ or Khan where people will tune in whoever he fights but I do think his fan base will have grown. Time will tellRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 10:03He get's over-hyped on here a lot since that fight, TBH, he hasn't fought since.. I'll keep an eye on BT figures. I'm assuming he should do his best numbers. Murray has been on Sky Sports a lot, he's not a big name in the UK, but he's been around.smiling assassin wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 09:01 Yeah I agree that he wasn't a big star but I think that has changed a bit since the Lemeiux fight. That fight there will have won him over a lot more people, although he was already a world champion that was his break through fight for me

See, I don't think you believe this. You have to be on the wind up.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 13:48 Seen Kell in title fights in your hated leisure centres many times, too, and know him personally! BJS turned over in an arena on Sky Box office. He’s been a star all along, deal with it.
Brook's world title fights have been in arenas and stadiums. Saunders defended his world title in a leisure centre.
I genuinely don't get why you do this. It's like saying Adrian Granados can do 4m+ PPV buys.

He's got problems building a fanbase because he's not a likeable bloke and people hate gypsies.smiling assassin wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 13:55Maybe he does but there were a people thinking Saunders was gonna get sparked in that fight and to go over there in his back yard and take him to school was a great performance. Also, he can't really build a fanbase based on 30,000 people watching him fight. It was an impressive performance without any question whatsoever but if barely anyone saw it how does it translate to that?
Re: Sky/BT.....
Billy Joe would be a household name if he had access to the same promotional aspects that the likes of crolla and brook does.
If all 3 were on the same platform then BJS would be the big name. Why because he is so good damn talented. But with Frank steering him, I doubt he will get that massive crossover fight.
If he fights GGG this year then it needs to be over here and promoted alot better than some of his previous fights.
He was building a fanbase just by battering eubank.

People don't necessarily buy talent. Plenty of talented boxers struggle at the box office.nitro5912 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 14:15 Billy Joe would be a household name if he had access to the same promotional aspects that the likes of crolla and brook does.

Yes he's a talent but he's a bit of a cock isn't he. He never really comes across well. You could sell him as a love to hate job I guess.
Re: Sky/BT.....
BJS is 10 times the boxer Crolla is, but I bet he is 10 times behind in his bank balance....says it all

You could literally have put Brook-Bizier in Hillsborough Leisure Centre and not sold out. If Eddie put me on at Wembley white collar and 20 people turned up, am I a stadium fighter? Billy’s run out was exactly what it was and look at the results it’s reeped? He’s now a huge name, known worldwide who Canelo WONT box. He knew, or Fwank knew how bad a state he was in at the time so wanted it low key. Everyone knows this. Even Billy and Frank!dirk2686 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 14:00See, I don't think you believe this. That's a big claim, this is canelo that has fought Mayweather and GGG, but won't fight BJS?mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 15:19You could literally have put Brook-Bizier in Hillsborough Leisure Centre and not sold out. Big claim.
Re: Sky/BT.....
Not in my opinion he hasn't. One of us is certainly missing something aye.....maverick23 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 10:21Eddie has a far better stable if fighters for me. At all levels (big ticket sellers, championship fighters, prospects etc.). Am I missing something?Stuarty wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 05:59 Who has the best stable?
Sky have more names but there's a big show this weekend that would've been PPV if it were on Sky and in Frampton, Fury and BJS BT have 3 of our bigger stars.
Eddie knows how to sell and put on a show etc..., but Frank has been quietly creeping up and arguably has the better stable in my opinion.
What do you think?

Mickey - Kell was fighting for regional belts in the Leisure centres where he went from fighting down the card in FW shows to headlining. Within a couple of fights he sold 10k tickets against Matthew Hatton. That’s pretty strong and is more than BJS has done so far against Martin Murray.
Also there were more than 3-4K at the Bizier fight. Hillsborough leisure centre must be some size not to fill up!
Kell vs Spence may not have sold out Bramall Lane but it still sold well - similar to Warrington this weekend.
If you really think Billy has been a ‘star all along’ then you’re clearly biased. If he was then he would sold more tickets against Lee, had more viewers against Lemieux, wouldn’t have needed to have fought in a Scottish Leisure centre (they could have had a show in London - even late in the day) and he would be selling more tickets against Martin Murray. He’s a phenomenal boxer and his profile is growing but he’s not a ‘star’ in boxing.

Absolutely nowhere near 3-4K for Bizier.

Kell-Spence was a great match up. Billy would sell against GGG.

I must have been at a different show if the Bizier card didn’t do 3k. It was less than 1/2 full but I’d still say comfortably over 3k.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 16:42 Kell-Spence was a great match up. Billy would sell against GGG.
I’m sure GGG vs BJS would sell very well over here but currently Billy doesn’t sell well against a non-name (as per the Lee fight, the Scotland fight and now against Murray.

The Scottish leisure centre fight can’t be held against Saunders, it was a total last minute thing, he was supposed to fight on the Cardiff card a week before (and even that fight was arranged at late notice) but it got put back due to Akavov’s visa or something.
Re: Sky/BT.....
Can you imagine Brook/Khan/Joshua/Bellew/Haye/Eubank/Groves fighting for a world title in a leisure centre for any reason whatsoever?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:02 The Scottish leisure centre fight can’t be held against Saunders, it was a total last minute thing, he was supposed to fight on the Cardiff card a week before (and even that fight was arranged at late notice) but it got put back due to Akavov’s visa or something.

I agree with what your saying Dirk. Surely this is down to who's the better promoter out of Eddie and Frank though. If Saunders was with Matchroom and he got told what to say and was put on sky sports regularly like other fighters are there is no reason why he wouldn't of been a household name.dirk2686 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:09Can you imagine Brook/Khan/Joshua/Bellew/Haye/Eubank/Groves fighting for a world title in a leisure centre for any reason whatsoever?Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:02 The Scottish leisure centre fight can’t be held against Saunders, it was a total last minute thing, he was supposed to fight on the Cardiff card a week before (and even that fight was arranged at late notice) but it got put back due to Akavov’s visa or something.
