Awkwardness comes from a lack of schooling, yes, but his athleticism makes up for that in many ways (not all ways), but in no way makes up for the lack of boxing skills. No doubt AJ is the better boxer, and thus loses far less rounds. But, Wilder's power is and remains the equalizer. I hope the fight happens so we can move on to other topics! LMAO! Ciao!jamamb wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 15:00 his awkward style is the lack of schooling and probably his late start. simply being very athletic doesnt cause one to be akward. fact is his akwardness and crudeness have allowed a number of less athletically gifted opponents to have success and go rounds. i dont know how ppl can watch that and act like his 'akwardness' and 'unorthodoxy' are actually strengths
imagine if wilder had all these athletic advantages over his opponents, but then also was a sound well schooled boxer. no doubt hed be a better fighter who isnt dropping like half the rounds to guys like szpilka
AJ v Wilder set for America?
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
Doesn't AJ have the one shot that can change a fight? Or did his uppercut from hell not count V wlad?
I'd say in terms of one punch power wilder slightly edges it.
But I reckon that if Wilder is caught cleanly at any stage in the fight then it is good night as he to me appears to be suspect, Ortiz hurt him and gassed, Molina put him on wobbly legs, some bloke called scooner put him on his arse.
AJ has been down V wlad and wobbled for all of 15secs v Whyte. Both levels above schooner and Molina.
This fight will be a fight of AJs superior skills which appear to be getting better under RM especially in defence Vs pure wildness which has massive flaws.
I still lean to AJ, I think that a decent jab and step back will trouble wilder.

As I said in my post, "This takes nothing away from AJ, just brings to light the truth." Hopefully soon, we'll have a fight and not an online debate. To call Wilder "suspect" is complete lunacy.nitro5912 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 15:23 Doesn't AJ have the one shot that can change a fight? Or did his uppercut from hell not count V wlad?

yes good point. im seeing it a lot. ppl acting as if its just wilder who has the big power in this fight, when aj is 21-0(0) and hasnt been the distance anymore times then wilder has. i think they each have enough power to take out the other if landing cleannitro5912 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 15:23 Doesn't AJ have the one shot that can change a fight? They both have enormous KO percentages, and both have been rocked, knocked down, and badly hurt in the past.
Somebody is getting knocked out here, and it's damn near a certainty.
I suspect they'll both be cautious knowing that any mistake could be their last, but I can't imagine that the sh*t doesn't hit the fan at some point over the course of 12 rounds.

also i meant aj is 21-0(20), not 21-0 (0)

How is it lunacy? I am using the same logic that most used for AJ after his wobble V Whyte.oogiebe wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 15:26As I said in my post, "This takes nothing away from AJ, just brings to light the truth." Did Ortiz almost stop wilder? Yes
Did Molina have wilder doing a khan impression? Yes
Did some bloke called Harold Schoniers (17/20/2) put him on his bum?
I'd say he still has a question mark over his chin imo
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
I don't see how this makes the money it needs to make in America?
Joshua can sell out stadiums in the UK, Wilder can't sell out small-medium arenas.
Joshua holds all the cards here.

Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
Said it before and nobody has answered. Lewis Tyson saw both fighters paid a combined $35m. Given Wilder has rejected $12.5m we have to assume he wants more. And given his supposed fee for Joshua is $50m it means the fight will have to generate enough to pay more than a combined $62.5m.
Is this fight nearly twice as big as Lewis Tyson? No. So where's the money coming from?
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
Wilder is a terrible boxer with a so so chin.
But as long as he's on his feet he'll be a danger to Joshua.
That's what makes it exciting.
I think Joshua should just say "F*ck it. Lets fight in America, rematch in UK"

Dork, there is something callled inflation. Ppv prices have risen, doubled, ticket prices, tv rights.... its a much bigger fight in the uk than the Lewis one. In 2002 I paid around 50p for a loaf of bread, now it’s around double! Amazing! How is a loaf of bread worth double with the same ingredients? It’s impossible!dirk2686 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:12Said it before and nobody has answered. Lewis Tyson saw both fighters paid a combined $35m. They're about $3 or $4 here. And not as good

Oh I know all about inflation Mick. But I also struggle to see how these figures add up.mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:40Dork, there is something callled inflation. For a more recent comparison Mayweather and Canelo had a combined guaranteed purse of around $54m for their fight. This has to do $10m more on top. Is it bigger than Mayweather Canelo? No.

Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
PPV's today are more expensive. That funny little inflation thing does happen. What was the cost per view? I remember PPV events at $19.99. Now you know I'm old. Mike Tyson at $39.99 per view. Find me a PPV that is good at that price today!mickey1975 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 18:45That was 5 years ago.dirk2686 wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 17:55Oh I know all about inflation Mick. Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
I think Haymon is taking a bit of a gamble hoping Wilder KO's AJ and so instantly becoming the biggest name in boxing and a PPV star, if they lose a few quid here but get the W the future earnings will be huge. They've done a terrible job with Wilder so far as he should be a big PPV star by now, a big black American HW champion with a massive punch and a big mouth is a promoters dream.
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
The PPV will bring in most of the money. And Joshua sells PPV around the world. So maybe the UK and USA will bring the lions share of buys, but there is a whole fan base outside of that as well.
I'm guessing here;
USA $80
UK £40
Rest of the world £35-40
Soon adds up.
The only shame is going to be the ticket prices if it is in the US. Joshua has been selling affordable tickets in the UK (even if you need oxygen at those heights) giving average income fans a chance at the spectacle. This will be a wealthy persons fight to be at, and that's a bit of a shame really.

AJ hasn't been PPV around the world mate, in the US for example he's been on Showtime.KiwiRider wrote: ↑17 May 2018, 19:50 The PPV will bring in most of the money. Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
UK PPV won't be £40. I can't think of one that has been more than £20
Re: AJ v Wilder set for America?
This. It's not going to be double the cost of the Klitschko fight.
I can see PPV going to a standard £25 at some point. If you booked late Mayweather Pacquiao was £25 in the U.K so it's sort of happened already. But there are always rumours of big jumps in PPV costs and they never happen.

Their punching power isn't close
Joshua needs referee stoppages against punch bags, wilder starches them cold. Bruno did the same vs punch bags. He hit harder than Joshua too.
