Yeah, in all fairness this one has actually went far smoother than the Froch/ward super six a few years back, and the cruiserweight's has been superb. Its really just with it being the final that is kinda rendered pointless if someone already beaten could still win the tournament. Hopefully Groves can make it all this irrelevant and be fit for the final but I must say it isn't sounding good for him.dirk2686 wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 02:29I imagine they probably want someone who's been involved in the tournament to be in the final though.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 02:25 If Groves cant do the final within the timeframe given then I'd much rather they drafted in a replacement rather than put in one of the already beaten semi finalists. I know they have alluded to the fact that there is a rule In place in case of injuries but ideally James Degale could fight Smith with the winner being tied into fight Groves once he returns. Ideal scenario. Don't even think the belts would be a big issue, certainly in the case of Degale and Groves - at this stage of their careers they are looking for the big money fights not fighting mandatory's.
A good thing about these tournaments is that it largely guarantees good fights. A bad thing is that even if they take place over a short period of time boxing is such that injury/retirement/cancellations/postponements and the arrival of new contenders will generally always chuck a spanner in the works.

Dirk, seriously, how old are you? Do you not remember Ward-Froch being on Sky?

Mick, seriously, how drunk were you when you tried to pretend that Hennessy getting Froch a 24 hour ITV4 broadcast delay was better promotion than Hearn getting him to fill Wembley Stadium on Box Office?mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 05:51 Dirk, seriously, how old are you? How many times do you have to mention drink... it’s boring. I don’t drink, thanks. I think Froch and Groves got that, Hearn definitely fell lucky there.dirk2686 wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 06:01Mick, seriously, how drunk were you when you tried to pretend that Hennessy getting Froch a 24 hour ITV4 broadcast delay was better promotion than Hearn getting him to fill Wembley Stadium on Box Office?mickey1975 wrote: ↑10 May 2018, 05:51 Dirk, seriously, how old are you? Clips posted on Shane McGuigan’s Instagram today of Groves hitting the pads. He was looking sharp.
Think this confirms he should be ready for the final?
