Chris Eubank Jr update

Re: Chris Eubank Jr update
I have a personal stack in this one. Before his dad had even fought as a pro in the UK I was telling everyone he'd be a champ. I went to about a dozen Eubank Snr bouts (about the same number of Benn fights).
I know he's a wanker but I do have a soft spot for Chris the Daddy.
And I still have hope that his son (who has ALL the tools to be a very good fighter) can learn the nuances.
But he needs to go to the US or even go to Oz to train with Benn (how brilliant a story would that be

Jr makes all the decisions. Senior acts the boss in-front of the cameras but behind the scenes JR’s in charge. HIS decision not to have a trainer.
JR was looking at settling in at the Mayweather gym last year. Better than his current set-up.

He has all the physical fundamentals and few of the fundamental skills

Smith v Eubank isn't a bad fight in itself, it's just being played down because of the situation that the fight may be the final of the WBSS. It's a bit of anti climax to the tournament but it's not a bad notch on Smith's record as he continually attempts to secure a world title shot.
The tournament may have been a bit of a let down for Smith in that he waited two years for a shot at the WBC, was in long talks with Anthony Dirrell and then opted for this instead. Dirrell then pulled out of his mandatory position and Smith has ended up with no title shot in this tournament either as Groves looks likely to pull out.
Bit of a shame but I guess while he was waiting for his mandatory he wasn't progressing fighting the likes of Blackledge and Reynoso etc. A couple of very good European level fights in Skogland and Eubank won't do him no harm though he's in a tricky position coming out (assuming he wins) of the tournament with no mandatory position and not bringing a whole lot to the table, tall awkward fighter, can punch a bit and likely a tough night for most, I don't see him getting a title shot so easily.
This is great for Eubank, his stock was at an all time high after Yildrim and is probably at an all time low after Groves. If he beats Smith he can at least come out of the tournament a name on the fringes, he'll get another chance at a title along the line. Loses and I guess he may have to think about dropping down to middle again or moving back to Euro/domestic level and seeing how he does. He can always look for domestic fights with Degale, Fielding and Ryder and all those will probably do well in terms of being semi-big fights for him.
Groves might come out of this best tbh, I think he's erased doubts that were very much premature talk not too long back, he's carved out a fairly decent resume and looked a lot better after looking a bit mentally shook from Froch II. The Jack loss doesn't look bad now, close fight with a very good and capable fighter, no shame in that one and has solid wins over Chudinov, Eubank, Murray and Gutneckt since. He needs to push for the big fights now though.
The unification with Degale is perfect for now, if he's out of the tournament make that. Degale has looked very vulnerable and poor last two outings, if he wants his big cash out fight it's there, it'll sell well and prob brings the most money for both, a chance to rub in a final victory or revenge, easy sell really. Winner can either look at Benevidez or Ramirez in a further unification, maybes try and tempt Golovkin or Saunders north or move up and fights some killers at 175. Lots of options.

Sound post...agree. I feel bad for Sr.Taansend wrote: ↑18 May 2018, 22:07I have a personal stack in this one. Before his dad had even fought as a pro in the UK I was telling everyone he'd be a champ. I went to about a dozen Eubank Snr bouts (about the same number of Benn fights).

I respect Chris' talents, just not his lack of dedication and discipline. Sorry for the confusion.mickey1975 wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 12:31?oogiebe wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 12:28If you are referring to SR, I agree.mickey1975 wrote: ↑19 May 2018, 12:26 I think George has handled his career perfectly.
