Joe Joyce To Return on June 15 at York Hall
Joe Joyce To Return on June 15 at York Hall
Joe Joyce will be back in the ring in a few weeks’ time.
The Commonwealth heavyweight champion will make the first defence of his title when he dons the gloves again.
Joyce, from Putney, London, knocked out Jamaica’s Lenroy Thomas inside two rounds on May 5 at the O2 Arena in the capital to claim the rainbow honour.
And the 32-year-old Olympic silver medallist (4-0, 4 KOs) will put the title at stake against a challenger to be confirmed on June 15.
The fight, which will take place at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, is set to be screened on UKTV channel Dave as part of its Fight Night series and will be promoted by David Haye and Richard Schaefer on behalf of Hayemaker Ringstar.
Details regarding the opponent for Joyce as well as the supporting cast for the fight will be revealed by the relevant parties in due course.

I'll be surprised if they get too big an opponent at this short notice.
Still probably better than Sefer Seferi though
Just had a quick look at the Commonwealth ratings & I'm guessing it'll be one of the British lads

Why is joyce fighting at York Hall the way Haye and co go on he should be selling out stadiums, I wonder how many tickets joyce personally sells ? I bet it's not a 100 ?
Re: Joe Joyce To Return on June 15 at York Hall
Who would take on Joyce at this late notice?
A bum probably.
It could be a British fighter for sure, or maybe Junior Fa? He has been busy in the gym lately.

its not like promoters only start working on cards when they get announced to the public. they couldve had an idea joyce was to box this date long before and hence given some possible opponents a heads up
then again maybe not
i watched the aussie (or was it nz?) champ demsey mckean and he wasnt bad at all for commonwealth level. 6'6 and some decent speed and movement. very possibly better then thomas.

Yeah, he's not too bad. Tough guy but a little basic. I'd watch it.jamamb wrote: ↑22 May 2018, 16:06 its not like promoters only start working on cards when they get announced to the public. they couldve had an idea joyce was to box this date long before and hence given some possible opponents a heads up

Savannah Marshall Added To June 15 York Hall Card
The 27-year-old super-middleweight, who is a former Team GB star, was last in action on May 12 in Bolton, exclusively live on Channel 5.
And now the Hartlepool lady, who recently left Mayweather Promotions, will be looking to go 3-0 when she returns on June 15.
She has been added to the supporting cast of Joe Joyce’s first Commonwealth heavyweight title defence against an opponent to be confirmed at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue.
Her fight, also against a foe to be determined at this stage, is likely to be screened on TV, with the Hayemaker Ringstar-promoted card set to be aired exclusively live on UKTV channel Dave.
Also on the card, Sam ‘SJ’ Smith will fight Anisha Basheel for the vacant Commonwealth female lightweight title and Jumanne Camero looks set to defend his Southern Area lightweight title against Michael Devine.
Recent Hayemaker Ringstar signing Kody Davies, who advanced his pro ledger on the undercard of David Haye’s defeat at the hands of Tony Bellew on May 5 at the O2 Arena in London, will be back in action.
George Fox and Phil Williams meet in a battle of the debutants, Ruqsana Begum will look to get a win over Ivanka Ivanova in a rematch after the pair drew at the same venue back in March and there is action for Tom Ansell, Fuaad Husseen, Brandon Ball, Chris Davies and Linus Udofia.
Boxing Scene understands that Michael Page, who recently competed in the Bellator mixed martial arts event at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London, will also be added to the card.

Re: Joe Joyce To Return on June 15 at York Hall
Not sure this will end up being a defence of the Commonwealth title, most of their rated boxers are tied up with other fights or wouldn’t be interested in the belt. Perhaps Junior Fa (although it’s late to get someone over from NZ) or Gary Cornish...

Junior Fa has a fight scheduled so it won't be him but I did read somewhere that Fa's opponent for June 22 has pulled out to fight Joe Joyce
