Is Mikey Garcia v Vasyl Lomachenko a 50/50 Fight ?

Post by Evander »

Garcia has had a good comeback since his layoff although last time out Segey Lipnets put him through his paces.
Lomachenko has been lighting it up since he turned professional and has been doing just about everything right.

Is Mikey Garcia v Vasyl Lomachenko a genuine pick em fight ?

Loma and Mikey may be a classic.
I love both of them and I would give an edge to Loma on boxing technique but i also give a bigger edge to Mikey in power. If Mikey weathers the barrages that Loma hits him with and figures out how to deal with the difficult angles that Loma presents than I can see him flattening him. Linares got lucky, he's not the fighter that Mikey is technique wise although no slouch. He was just overwhelmed with the Loma onslaught. I think Mikey wins by KO or TKO in 9 after being behind on the scorecards.

Right now it's officially "in the works."

It's not quite signed but it's a good bet for July 28 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Also Lomachenko- Beltran is "in the works" for August.

Maybe Garcia-Lomachenko will then have a winner takes all bout in November.

I like Mikey's aggression and strength to overcome Lomachenko's footwork and technique.

Garcia's power is overlooked, especially at 135.

I see it a 55/45 fight (Garcia), although oddsmakers will probably open Lomachenko as the favorite.

He's much more hyped then Garcia and that usually influences casual bettors.

Loma absorbed a random connecting right hand from Linares that wasn't a full extension, on the button punch and bounced right back. I think in a fight with Garcia he'll have to eat some more devastating shots. If he can weather it he could beat Garcia. I gotta believe that Lom's recuperative abilities are incredible considering his conditioning. I tend to lean towards Mikey, but I could easily call it 50/50.

I think its 55% 45% type of fight favoring Loma.

The reason being this... We have not seen version of Loma where he is vary of the opponents power cuts all the showboating and fan service and instead consecrates solely on boxing to points win. We might see that Loma against Garcia.

Think about how GGG went on to third gear against Lemieux. I think that Loma can do the same.

I hope that we get to see the match. Winner should be high on the p4p lists :TU:

I'd say that it's more like a 60/40 fight in Loma's favor but we'll probably never see it for obvious reasons. I would like to see if Mikey could find even more openings in Loma's arsenal than Linares managed to find. Speaking of Linares, I think that the better fight might be Linares and Garcia. That's 50/50 to me.

this the kind of fight I like to see every Saturday.a real 50/50 fight.two future hall of famers at their prime.if I have to pick one ,I would go for mikey.he is a master of counter punching and timing ,i am sure he is gonna find his openings and will drag loma to unknown territory.

You're the only one that thinks that. Mikey has an easy time against Linares.

What weight? Can Mikey still make 135? Is Loma staying at 135?

I'd have it 50/50 under 135 but above Garcia should be favourite.

You've got a history of overrating Garcia so your opinion isn't exactly jarring or surprising. It's too bad Garcia chickened out because he found a belt to cherry pick because we would have found out.

Garcia will probably retire before facing anyone elite so it will be hard to prove you wrong when he's never tested. The worst resume for any 3 division champion in history.

Arum now says that Lomachenko won't be fighting Beltran (or apparently anyone else) in August.

It will be "revisited" at a later date.

So Lomachenko will apparently just have the now traditional 2 fights this year.

Hopefully that second 2018 date will be against Garcia.

I do not think so. I think it's about 65/35 Loma. I have no bias I have hadicaped boxing for 20 years. It would be a very interesting fight. To be honest though Loma sould fight tank Davis first however not sure tank wants that smoke.

Yeah it’s genuinely 50/50 for me.

Loma might be better P4P but Mikey is bigger & stronger & importantly very accurate. One of the best fights that could possibly be made right now, I really hope it comes to pass.

On paper I would say it's about 55-45 for Loma, but it all depends on how both of them look in their next fights.

On paper, it'd be Mikey the favorite. Lomachenko got bambi-legged around the ring against Linares.
