Euro News: Kabayal vs. Dimitrenko, Culcay vs. Rodriguez, More

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

The deadline for purse bids or agreements for EBU heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel´s mandatory defence against fellow German Alexander Dimitrenko (41-3) that was set for today has been postponed until June 14.

Kabayel (18-0 / 20-2 take your pick) is promoted by SES while Dimitrenko is with EC Boxing.

On paper it´s a solid matchup - but it´s no secret that the once touted Dimitrenko has blown a lot more cold than hot as of late, despite his one round knockout win over Adrian Granat last year.

Former WBA junior middleweight champ Jack Culcay (23-3) takes on Adasat Rodriguez (17-7-2) for the vacant EU middleweight title on June 9 in Germany with Agon Sports as promoter.

Site is to be announced. The winner gets Elliott Matthews, who had to withdraw from the position as OC due to an injury as mandatory challenger.

"El Toro" Rodriguez have previously challenged twice EU titles twice at light heavyweight and did well but not well enough.

Deniz Ilbay is out with a broken hand and in comes former amateur star Abass Barou, 1-0, and takes on Denis Krieger, 14-5-2, for the vacant German title in only his second fight on June 2 in Hannover on the undercard to Mann-Nielsen. Barou is trained by Ulli Wegner and promoted by Team Sauerland.

French cruiserweight veteran Doudou Ngumbu (37-8) takes on Yoann Kangolo (11-0) on Friday (May 25) in Toulouse. At stake is the Francophone title, which is one of the by now countless subtitles to the WBC. Still, it´s a fine matchup.
