HW Chris Burton returning

Post by funso banjo baby »

http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/315716

he lost to sam sexton in the final of prizefighter many years back.

moved down to cruiser.....but had no legs against Jon lewis Dickinson (also mark krence suffered the same problem against Dickinson having shed weight to compete at the cruisers).

anyway Burton is back again it seems fighting at heavy having been out since 2012

I recall his fight with sexton being one of the better prizefighter scraps

Burton never really fought anyone before losing to Sexton. I think it shows he capabilities really. Did beat a fading Matthew Ellis on the way up.

He's only 28 so his age isnt an issue, not sure what hes been doing for the last 6 years so hopefully either been doing something that keeps him in shape. Maybe he has got the taste of it again.

I dont think anyone should be expecting big improvements and very much doubt there will be any title shots but if the guy wants to step back in the ring, good luck to him.

He's not 28. He was born in 1981. He'll still be in shape. Got locked up for kidnap.

He was in absolutely awesome looking shape against JLD but Funso is correct in saying that he was wobbly at that weight. Needs some ballast.

To a 5'8'', fat, cruiser from Romania. How did that happen? He is 6'5'' isnt he and great shape?

I was at this show last night. It was Tommy Wards brother Martin who beat Jose Aguilar. A late change. Boxrec has the wrong Ward. I will post something in the records section to tell them.
Chris Burton didn't get going. He was swamped right from the opening bell.

The Romanian chap has a couple of wins over fighters with (on the face of it) decent winning records. Perhaps he gets motivated every once in a while...

Granted.
But I can't picture a fat 5'8 man besting a 6'5 adonis.

I'm guessing Burton forgot how to use his jab.

Sounds like that's all over now then! Getting KO'd by a 5'8 journeyman cruiser from Romania is about as much information as you need to realise that you should now be seeking an alternative career.

Not the result I was hoping for!!!

On paper High Tower should have won this, but he took a lot a shots & his legs went

Fight footage now 'up'

Thinks it's maybe time for Buton to call it a day....

Is he still a gangster?

I'm not too unhappy about him getting battered.

The little fella got one in at the back of Burton's head and that seemed to do the job. It was pretty poor though from Burton, didnt get a look in once he was clipped.

Hopefully not. He'll struggle to kidnap anyone now.

I was going to say the same - he was 5 foot 8 and had most of his fights at 11 stone and was matched against someone who was 6 foot 5 and a 16 stoner.

Diabolical shitehouse matchmaking that - the Board should be looking at all involved (boxer, manager, trainer, matchmaker and promoter).

Yes, I know the result, but the intention was to bring an easy target over to get done in.

The thing is that it wasn't a single "lucky" punch that did him - he was literally bludgeoned to the ground.

Nothing wrong with the fight really.

Gheorghe Danut beat Ian Tims about 6 months ago and had done decently against Niall Kennedy & Sam Hyde within the last 2 years, so he was not a bad comeback opponent for someone like Burton.
