povetkin and pulev would be a better win combo then anyone else has. im not sure if your serious mocking that

a guy could have fought 100 percent 0-20 clubfighters, yet would move straight into the top world 3-4 if he beat those two
Exactly. Is there some new found depth to the heavyweight division that everyone except Mick has missed if he's mocking the idea of Joshua fighting Pulev and Povetkin?

I'm not sure Fury fans can criticise AJ's apponents, especially at the moment.

I also don't get the idea that Hearn would be concerned with Pulev beating Whyte and therefore earning a shot at Joshua, given Hearn actually did make Joshua Pulev and only a late injury stopped it happening.

There are TWO fights that matter for AJ. Wilder-let’s roll and Fury-Next year. Nobody wants anyone else. Everyone who was actually at the Parker fight said it was crap. Everyone who watched it on telly said it was crap. Nobody cares about anyone else, and don’t you dare give me any “75,000, 90,000” stats. I ficking know there’s a lot of dickheads about.

And? If Pulev beats Whyte then Joshua fights Pulev. It's not like Hearn is going out of his way to avoid that fight happening.

If 'nobody wants anyone else' what will your response be when he fills a stadium against Povetkin?

Yeah I was there and it was crap, but in fairness that was mostly down to Parker and the ref.

Joshua - Pulev would be a great fight to watch as they’re so static, brutal ko pretty much guaranteed, although agree it would be a tougher sell. I don’t see Joshua going back to a stadium unless it’s for Wilder or Fury.

The depth of the heavyweight division is such that these represent legitimate top six heavyweights.

Joshua would sell out a stadium fighting me. It’d would also do decent PPV numbers too. I didn’t mind the Parker fight. He beat a belt holder, fairly comfortably and got the job done at the end of the day.
The casuals will be out in force again for any Joshua fight.

He has limitless options really.

Obviously we all want to see him v Wilder soon and in the future, Fury too ( assuming Tyson is serious )
These two will be replaced in time though if neither happen. Pulev and Povetkin are decent challenges and then there will be contenders coming through.
Give it a couple of years and it’ll be Yoka, Hrgovic and the likes, then maybe Dubois and that generation etc

True though. Fury is busy fighting a Tirana taxi driver, so that leaves Wilder and Wilder alone as the only other fight approaching a genuine contest. If that can't be made what can you do? Pulev and Povetkin are literally some of the best options available.

This is a sensible way of looking at it given how little he'll actually box. It's perfectly reasonable to think that Joshua will only have four fights max before summer 2020 - and by that stage a guy who is currently a prospect could be the fight everyone wants to see.

Do you really think you're kidding anyone with the Ottke talk when your hero is fighting the second best Albanian cruiserweight in his family here Mick?

Let's face it. Anything other than 50:50 split for an eliminator is nonsense. I wouldn't blame Whyte for taking a different route.

So they’re happy to accept the ibf enforcing certain rules, hence AJ getting his ridiculous title but not others?

The rules are at fault mickey and are made in such a way that they can either be taken advantage of or provide a fairly logical reason for avoiding them.. I'm not defending anyone, I think the rules need looked at but I'm not holding my breath

Wlad took advantage of the IBF.. I can't remember who it was or if it was a few, but any IBF mandatories that went to purse bids, he requested the IBF change the split from 75-25 to 80-20 in his favour. :OhYes:

Looks like Whyte has passed on this. He wasn't going to be earning nearly as much as Pulev.

Hearn has worked with Ortiz before and Ortiz has fought here before. Purse might be more even so why not.
