Why has it taken so long for his funeral?

I've had mates who were murdered and they were planted quicker than this. Seems strange. Hopefully his family get a bit of closure after today. Must've been hard for them waiting so long.

A friend of mines brother who is from Sheffield died about 3 weeks ago and his funeral is tomorrow. I know its a set of different circumstances but maybe getting a funeral slot in Sheffield takes a bit of time. Only guessing here though.

Three months does seem a very long time for a funeral to take place. Not that it makes much difference in the end, I suppose. Just a sad story all round.

I know it usually takes an age if it's a murder or there's suspicious circumstances but seems like a right long time. I noticed the other week Dale Wintons funeral was going down and that seemed like ages ago he passed!

Scott Westgarth funeral takes place in Sheffield, hundreds attend

Hundreds of mourners turned out to the funeral of boxer Scott Westgarth, which took place in Sheffield on May 29.

Westgarth, 31, died after falling ill following his victory over Scunthorpe's Dec Spelman on February 25.

The two fought out a 10-round light-heavyweight bout at Doncaster's Dome Arena. He was then rushed to hospital after collapsing in his changing room following the bout.

Westgarth's brother, Adam paid tribute at the funeral according to the Sheffield Star, saying: "The presence he had and the energy he gave was inspiring.

"He would make you laugh through mischief but he also had the more serious side and his family was very important to him.

"Boxing was just a reflection of the character he was - hard working and determined."

Westgarth's brother also read out a letter from the NHS, revealing that Westgarth had saved seven lives through organ donation following his death.
