Marvis Frazier as a Cruiserweight

Post by scorpio83 »

If anyone look at Marvis Frazier's weight during his boxing career, he mostly fought from 195 to 200 pounds and his body look like a cruiserweight and he once fought future WBC Cruiserweight champion Bernard Benton. In your opinion, how good would Marvis be had he fought at Cruiserweight and how would he fare against Holyfield, DeLeon, Qawi and Camel? Holyfield, DeLeon and Qawi would stop Marvis and Camel could stop him as well? What is your opinion? :box:

I guess, all of the mentioned fighters would have won and maybe stopped him, yes.

Came off the floor with a broken jaw to beat Bonecrusher Smith, withstood a fit James Broad, Quick Tillis, Jose Ribalta and Joe Bugner--I think he had more than enough to handle Carlos DeLeon and the gang. He actually did beat one crusier champ in Bernard Benton! Look at how cruisers have fared at heavyweight. Barring Holyfield and Haye, I can't think of any who scored quality wins like Frazier, or showed that they could even handle big men like Marvis did. The two guys who made quick work of him were no joke, to say the least.

Another question in your opinion, how would Marvis Frazier fare against former WBA Cruiserweight Champion Ossie Ocasio? Ocasio may decision him, but Marvis may exchange boxing skills with him as they counter one another along the way. What is your opinion? :box:

It's possible and how would Marvis fare against Alfonso Ratliff, who is 3 or 4 and a half inches taller than him?

Marvis overcame bigger size disadvantages versus Bonecrusher Smith, James Broad, Joe Bugner and Jose Ribalta, all of whom were much physically stronger and durable than Ratliff. Marvis also beat Bernard Benton, who relieved Ratliff of his WBC cruiserweight title! The form line points to a Marvis victory.

Loses to Holyfield, beats DeLeon and Camel and a toss up vs. Qawi. Marvis is given way to little respect because of the Holmes fight, he wasn't bad.

I think Marvis could have done very well as a cruiserweight.
I think he stops Marvin Camel on cuts in a rather one-sided fight. I think he outmuscles & outhustles both Deleon & Ocasio. While Qawi would have been a rough, tough fight for him there's a chance that he could have won on points in a close one. Only Holyfield is a sure bet to beat him during that era. Probably via stoppage in the middle to later rounds.

Marvis might perform better against Ratliff than against Bonecrusher Smith in my opinion. :TU: :box:

In my opinion, Marvis Frazier would not stop the first cruiserweight champion Marvin Camel on a cut because Marvis only scored 8 knockouts out of 19 wins in his pro career. Marvis decision Camel is best to win by boxing him. However, Camel may hurt Marvis along the way and turn the fight around to stop Marvis. :box:

Would beat everyone except Holyfield, and that fight is a tossup.
