Michael Conlan in the theatre at MSG .

It was my first trip abroad to watch a big fight ( GGG vs Jacobs the following night ).

Funny story, I turned up to the venue for Conlans big paddys day debut without a ticket knowing I would most probably get one at the Box Office but on my way some dude was touting tickets outside, personally I would have swerved it but my mate was like, we will get a good deal here mate because the shows already started..... So this fella looking like a tramp pulls out a wedge of tickets and my mate starts bidding him, so a 150 dollar ticket the guy wanted $30 " as the show has already started " . I knew this was daft and didn't want anything to do with it like I said, I knew they were bent tickets but against my better judgement and my mate egging the whole thing on I picked up a ticket for $30 off this fella and walked to the entrance... Hands them to the guy who scans them, they don't work and sends us to the Box Office for inspection, the fella in the Box Office looks at them, stamps them " COUNTERFEIT " hands them back and says " have a nice day guys " . My mate is inspecting the tickets and shaking his head, I'm rolling my eyes. We end up buying a $25 ticket from the Box Office and walking pretty much to ring side and sitting in the $150 seats for $25. Looking back it was pretty funny how fornicating stupid we were for entertaining this guy on the street.

I still have the ticket stamped counterfeit as a souvenir

Jim McDonnell and Chris Pyatt in 1983. Both had long and illustrious careers.

Probably a few more obscure one, can't remember without boxrec and going through cards I've been to.

Hoko destroyed most of his opposition on the way up, not in the way Nigel Benn destroyed opponents but with bunches of punches, body and head. He was brilliantly moved through the ranks by Barney Eastwood. Incidentally, Paul only turned pro that summer when he was dropped from the Commonwealth Games team in Edinburgh after the selectors discovered he was in Las Vegas with Team Eastwood when McGuigan was beaten by Steve Cruz. Peter English replaced him in the Games.

The very first fight I saw live was Lee McAllister's debut.

Since then I've been at plenty, with some of the more notable including Ian Butcher, Jason Easton and Scott Allan. There are probably some other well known ones, but I'm struggling to remember just now.

I haven’t seen too many cards live, the most notable debut I can muster is Matt Legg, whose claim to fame is losing to James Toney in Prizefighter...

He looked about two weight classes bigger than his opponent and stopped him in the first round with a right to the body I think.

Same night Yuri Romanov floored Bobby Vanzie five times enroute to a stoppage win.
Think I topped this bill, think it was Alex Arthur's debut too.

Aye, I remember that. Beat Paul Hanlon in a round then did a fancy shuffle. There was quite a lot of interest in him even then.

The allegedly Manchester show had both Dubois and Adams debuts last year. Could both get quite far in the pro game.

Yeah you did mate: you won a great scrap against Talakin. Arthur wasn’t on the bill mate but Andy Morris made his debut too that night. Would have loved to see Arthur live he was one of my favourite fighters on the way up.

Kicked off a lot in the crowd that night too - in the middle of the Vanzie fight the MC was on the mic shouting “BEHAVE!!” 😂😂

That was the first professional boxing bill I ever went too. Great memories.

Audley Harrison..........thankfully, Rob Reid was the undercard and gave us a few rounds and he signed my programme having done the business and told his friends/relatives to sit down so we could see Audley. Not that there was much to see.
