If Wilder refuses to travel to the UK.

Eddie Hearn has confirmed AJ's next opponent if Wilder refuses to travel.

Perfect time to fight Povetkin. Ever since his failed drugs test he's looked worse with every fight.

Price was quite close to beating him. I don't think Povetkin has too much time left in boxing. In fact, if Joshua beats him I can see Povetkin hanging his gloves up.

povetkin is still a top 5 ranked fighter, fact is that hed be pretty much a career best win for almost any hw and certainly top 2 for all but maybe aj

aj is building a really strong resume and hes not even 5 years pro yet, hes been pro shortest time out of anyone in boxrecs top 25! whether wilder or povetkin next hell have fought

wlad
wilder/povetkin
parker
whyte
takam
breazeale

thats a list of names that were/are top 10 like no other active hw champ/contender has fought. i didnt even include eric molina on that list, who is a guy who hurt wilder

That's like Linares was close to being Loma or Wlad was close to beating AJ. Fact is, they didn't.

We're all well aware Price has power in his hands, it's his only quality, which can make him a dangerous opponent.

I agree the list is good. But Breazeale and Whyte weren't top 10 HW's when Joshua fought them. They have done really well since losing to Joshua though.

Interesting fight between two fairly unskilled heavyweights. The Ref will have his work cut out...

I said to my mates at the weekend when talking AJ v Wilder. Both will deal with their mandatories around the same time( early September) then meet in a Thanksgiving sort of time blockbuster.

Decent fight, not great but there’s not many better options. It would be a good fight to have in the US and test the water over there.

its easily one of the best fights in the division even if its not wilder. povetkin is an olympic champ who has been top rated for years and easily has one of the very best resumes and highlight reels in the division.

you can legit say this is 1 vs 3 without that being an unreasonable statment.

Of course, it is a one of the best options. If it really takes place, I'll be glad.

I don’t think Price was actually that close to beating Povetkin. He had him in a spot of bother but there was plenty to go before closing the show

ya he basically got rocked but not like he was obviously about finished, he looked fine next round. he survived worse vs wlad and gritted through the huck fight where he seemed out of shape too.

It was never going to be Wilder, they are just causing a buzz to build that fight for the future. Interest in that fight has now peaked, its in hyperbowl state, right where they want it, now they will hold it there while their camps line up fights with lesser oponents. Everyone is now very interested in watching whoever they fight next, so both Wilder and Joshua camps have maximized their earnings for their next few fights, and all the while they will tease Joshua vs Wilder as being the next fight to keep everyones interest peaked. Haymon demonstrated this technique perfectly with May-Pac. I dont expect Joshua-Wilder to play out so long, it should happen in a couple of fights time, i would hope, but not next, all signs are showing its just about hyping it for now.

I can't see how anyone can complain about a possible fight v Povetkin.

Outside of Wilder and a peak Fury its probably the next best fight.

If this fight happens AJs last 4 fights will have been:

Wlad
Takam
Parker
Povetkin

That's a good dance card.

Add Miller and Whyte to that equation and its excellent.

For the record, AJ keeps Povetkin away using an ever improving jab and stops the Russian in the middle rounds.

Marco Huuck gave Povetkin all he could handle, and that was when Povetkin was better. Good opponent for Joshua,, but I struggle to see Povetkin winning.

Actually Povetkin wasn't better then. He became an overall better fighter after Klitschko, but in Huck fight he looked out of shape even for the version of him exemplary for those times. Now he is probably aging, but the infuence of the age on him is more a question, than a fact. For the moment he still looks sound.

No he doesn't, he looks bang average. He looked monster while he was on the gear, then went back to boring, laboursome, average after he was caught

Povetkin would have been a top contender in any era. Joshua should win but Povetkin is a quality opponent.

As for him juicing... He got caught. If you think those not getting caught are clean then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.
