Tommy Morrison vs Bruce Seldon

Post by DrDuke »

Two skilled boxers, two interesting figures on the 90s scene.

How do you see this match-up going with those two in their primes?

Yeah, I guess, the ending would have been approximately at that point.

Seldon could have been doing well in the first couple of rounds with his jabbing, but Morrison would have taken over quite soon. Bruce wouldn't be able to withstand Tommy's vicious and variable punches.

Prime for prime, I'd take Seldon by a wide decision or late stoppage.

Going by their records it looks like a case of different levels of fighters.

Seldon's best win might be a win over a 36 year old Tony Tucker who himself never won another fight of note after losing to Seldon. Morrison for all his foibles, has a few legit wins.

Of course, ANY time you are talking about the Duke there is always a chance that he could run into something big and never recover enough to get back in the fight, so I don't think you can make him a lock over literally anyone with fast hands and a punch (and Seldon qualifies).

But, if we assume they both trained, I just think Tommy is on a slightly different level. He stops Seldon in round 7 or 8.

Both had very questionable chins.

But Seldon's jaw stands out as Khan-like.

Tyson grazed the top of his head and out went Seldon.

Seldon did have pretty good skills and an excellent hard jab.

I think he could certainly hang with Morrison and hurt him.

It's really a question if who has more desire, more heart.

I'm sure that guy is Morrison, who would slowly wear down Seldon and eventually have him looking for an exit.

Morrison by KO in 8.
