Tony Yoka v Dave Allen

Post by African Monkey »

Good fight this one. I expect Yoka to get a UD win but I do feel that Allen could give him a bit of trouble here as much as I don't rate him. Yoka struggled I thought against Jonathan Rice and I could see this fight going a similar way,

Allen is tough enough to give Yoka a workout and probably cumbersome enough to make him look good.

I can't stand Yoka. His Olympic gold was more rigged than AJ's and he's already had a positive test. It would be immensely satisfying if Allen pulled off the upset and chinned him.

short notice fight for Allen so I doubt he will be fully fit, lets hope he has learnt a few tricks for beating a big man from his sparring sessions with Fury.

Rumour from Thailand is that that card in Paris will be pushed back, due to financial issues in relation to the main event

X2 One of the most decorated European amateurs in recent years and I actually don't rate him at all...feel he's average.

Is there any chance he could get stripped of his gold due to his positive test?

Nah, let him keep the medals and leave it to the pros to knock him about. That’s going to happen 100%

Not impressive at all, especially considering his trophy record in the ams. Thought he lost at least 2, possibly 3 fights at the Olympics. Joyce and Hrgovic both beat him.

Being part of an amateur boxing golden couple sure does help with the scoring I guess!

Not a Yoka fan either. I really hope Dave's eyebrow cut is properly healed by the time they fight. That was a real meaty one he got in the Thomas fight.

just cant stand yoka, there was so much of a 'golden boy' type of thing with the aiba wanting to push him and his wife, got so many generous, benefit of the doubt decisions between the worlds and the olympics

then goes and tests positive as a pro and gets some suspended sentence thing that means hes not sidelined at all

ive seen him kod pretty hard twice, once by savon in the ams and once by ali eren demirezen in wsb, i dont really trust his chin or conditioning

He did beat Parker conclusively in the world champs. They recently sparred in the lead up to the AJ fight. The scuttlebutt (and I know it's only sparring) was that Parker came off worse and had trouble with Yokas jab. Is Dave Allen better than Parker? Yeah, it doesn't look good for Dave in the one :verysad:

ya he beat parker 7-4 almost a decade ago in the juniors, but parker also lost to guys like mario heredia, zhang zhilie, junior fa, and tariq abdul haqq. hrgovic beat him too. dont think parker was ktfo multiple times like yoka though , and yoka was already 23 and a very experienced am when one of those ko losses happened . the ko to savon was frightening btw, he was laid out very brutally by 1 shot

havent been impressed thatmuch by yoka as a pro, certainly i doubt hed beat parker in an actual fight right now, wont be remotely surprised if hes chinned before making it to world level

can he even avenge the wsb ko loss to demeirezin? that wasnt 1 shot, he was grinded down and then taken out

I like Dave but considering Yokas amateur pedigree he should be wiping the floor with Allen.

When Joyce beat him in the Olympics, he was grinding him down. Yoka looked completely fvcked at the end.
If they meet anytime soon as a pro Joyce would beat him up after he went past 3/4 rounds I suspect.

Dont rate Yoka but would need something like 100/1 to put money on Dave here.

Hope he is fit and can atleast put it on the frenchman mid-late

Joyce clearly won the first round hurting Yoka and the open scoring showed that Yoka had been given it! Shocking! He had no chance after that. Yoka even had the gall to do to the Ali shuffle at one point. He's an absolute, unrepentant pudendum. I didn't see the fight but didn't he benefit from some generous scoring the Hrgovic fight, too?

Funny that it's not on Youtube or Dailymotion. Yoka's people probably paid to have it taken down.

There is no chance Dave Allen can beat this guy, i have Dave Allen losing to Joyce comfortably and Tony Yoka beat Joyce to win the gold in the olympics in 2016 though it was considered a controversial decision though the ametuers are scored differently to the Pro's.... in the words of Hatman himself "I don't know what brand of crack these guys are smokin'".

Nonetheless this is a good fight for Tony Yoka as it should push his name further into the heavyweight boxing scene and would be nice to see Joyce defend his commonwealth vs Tony Yoka and see if they can set the record straight once and for all.

After rewatching the AIBA World Championships 2015 and also 2016 Olympics both where Tony Yoka won, now the Tony Yoka comfortably won AIBA World Championships 2015 as he was landing the more clearer punches and he looked like he was hurt in the 2nd though Joyce tried to walk him down and ended up taking some punches and it appeared like Joyce was also hurt in the 2nd due to this... Tony Yoka ended up wining every round 3-0, now the 2016 Olympics i feel that Joyce may of won due to agression though thats not how they score in amatuers and even if Joyce was throwing more punches Tony Yoka was landing the clearer punches and Joyce just trys to walk his opponents down. So if it was a Pro fight i would o fgave it to Joyce but its not so i gave it to Tony Yoka.

And how is Tony Yoka a hype job? Noone even talks about him this is the first time i've heard his name mentioned and it only because hes fighting an English fighter, Tony Yoka is a better boxer than Joyce as Joyce just trys to use his size and strength to walk his opponents down where as Tony Yoka tends to move more and use counter punches to win his bouts.

I would love to see them fight in the Pro's at least 10 or 12 rounds as it appears Joyce has a better engione and i would like to see if Tony Yoka can make it to hear the last bell but if he does i would say Tony Yoka wins on points.
