Haha, that was at the age of 22, AJ wasn't even a pro at all at that age, he hasn't even won the Olympics yet at that age.
It was probably around the age AJ lost badly by KO against Dillian Whyte, that same Dillian Whyte who never made it at this level in kickboxing at all.
Zimmerman on the other hand is a 260 pound all time great in the sport of kickboxing and actually won the heavyweight title of the world in his next fight after against Jérôme Le Banner.
I'm sure you know Jérôme Le Banner and if you don't then that says much more then too much about you then about Rico Verhoeven.

Joshua never lost badly by KO against anyone, especially Whyte. He lost via decision in an amateur fight, in his 3rd or 4th fight, months after taking up the sport.

My point is, in no way shape or form is Rico Verhoeven or anyone else you care to list, going to be remotely competitive in a heavyweight boxing match against Anthony Joshua.

‘Sparring’ stories count for absolutely nothing.

I am big into kickboxing and i got tickets as soon as i found out it was in the uk.
Have to say i enjoyed every bit of it
All the undercard fights were some of the uks best against various opponents. They were all very evenly matched fights as well.

Little to no advertising in the uk i feel let down the ticket sales and for a 16k stadium there couldnt have been more than 2500 prople there, which is a shame.

Slight downside - Bailey sugden fight was a bit of an anti climax

His dad dean was a great full contact kickboxer
His brother chad is a pro also fought in glory and his other brother regis was a good kickboxer and is now doing mma - fought on bamma cards a few times

Chad Sugden now boxes. The family have all come through full contact kickboxing.

Rico Verhoeven right now is regarded as a highly technically accomplished champion in kickboxing. because he’s technical he’s not a revered fighter and not considered a star. But it seems he’s really come on in his career and mastered the combat sport that he is in. He won’t be able to beat a boxer in boxing but a boxer cross trained in kickboxing would be completely befuddled or beaten up against him.

Damn, the lack of knowledge is high here! Tyson trained for months in Steenbergen for Klitschko, all of this pretty much especially because he was unknown there aren't wasn't abnormally tall compared to the average Dutch guy and ofcourse because of Rico.

I’m not sure what this argument is for. But, kickboxers do train a bit in boxing sometimes. For example, Verhoeven’s hyped up rival, who suffered an injury and gave up in the middle of their big fight, the Moroccan guy with the really bad attitude? Big guy, very hard hitter, very chinny? He uses Bouie Fisher as a trainer to help with the punching. Is it surprising that kickboxers have sparred with boxers?

Definitely, Tyson became champ and couldn’t handle the responsibilities as champion. Very much like Buster Douglas. Both in controversial circumstances. With Douglas beating Mike Tyson after benefiting what many feel was the long count. And Tyson Fury refusing drugs tests and failing one as well. Fury couldn’t even make it to one defense of his title, but if he did like Douglas he probably would’ve been blasted out in humiliating fashion.

Rico certainly doesn’t have the fame or controversy and likely not the opportunities for big paydays. But he is one truly disciplined fighter. He’s well rounded, has every punch and kick in the textbook and knows exactly when and where to use them. Rico is not going to be revered like Peter Aerts or Rob Kaman but he’s highly respected - as truly one of the finest full contact fighters on the planet. Do we really know how good Tyson is? Is it just the long reach? Did he simply have Wlad’s number? Or is he a master of that awkward and befuddling style? The question is still open.
