Re: Terence Crawford vs. Jeff Horn - Postponed!
So they're putting it on cheap, second-tier PPV?
It should be on regular ESPN. Why charge even $5 when Crawford needs all the free promotion he can get if he's going to eventually blossom into a superstar?

Idiots if you ask me. Wasn't that one of the main reasons for Arum going with ESPN. To reach out to a wider audience.. now this..SenorPipino wrote: ↑15 Mar 2018, 17:50 So they're putting it on cheap, second-tier PPV?

To build stars.
Crawford may be a P4P top fighter but he's not a star. At least to the casual fan.
And those types of fans are not going to spring for even $5 to see 2 guys that they're only vaguely familiar with.
It may be a pretty decent card overall but PPV lite is not the way to go.
Surprising that this streaming venture was announced today.
Yesterday the card was postponed even though it hadn't even been officially announced or any tickets put on sale.
But suddenly the television logistics are publicized. This whole promotion has been very strange.

Surprised it's put off that far for a bruised hand. BS excuse imo.

Top Rank Boxing has officially confirmed Horn-Crawford
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/horn-s-vega ... e-official
After 16 weeks of negotiations, four venue changes and a lot of uncertainty, Jeff Horn's US boxing debut is finally locked in.
Bob Arum's Top Rank promotions has officially confirmed the date and venue for Horn's mandatory WBO welterweight championship clash with unbeaten American sensation Terence Crawford.
The fight will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on June 9 - despite a late attempt by Horn's promoters, Duco Events, to have it moved because of a pay-per-view clash with Australian UFC champion Robert Whittaker's first title defence.

Hopefully Crawford can get this fight done and then stay busy. Feels like forever since he beat Indongo.

Compared to Keith Thurman, Crawford is a buzzsaw of activity.

Jose Pedraza Back on Crawford-Horn
Former world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza will not have to wait long to return to the ring. The Puerto Rican boxer is on schedule to challenge Mexican fighter Antonio "Tono" Moran for the Latin belt of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) at the lightweight limit of 135 pounds.

Arum: Horn a Live Dog, Has Very Good Chance To Beat Crawford
"Nobody is treating Horn with disrespect," he said.
"This would be a massive thing for Horn to beat Crawford and he would get all the accolades that come with it.
"I think the winner of this fight will be considered the big superstar of the welterweight division."
Crawford is a heavy favorite to win but Arum, said it was not that clear cut.
The veteran promoter believes Horn is a live dog in the fight - and Arum made a similar statement last year, prior to Horn's shocking decision win over heavy favorite Manny Pacquiao.
"When you look at these two fighters, if you talk about boxing skills, no question that those belong to Crawford," he said.
"But when you talk about size and strength and determination you have to give Horn a very, very good chance."
---------------------------------------------
I find Arum a little fishy. The way he 'forced' Pacquiao to fight Horn, the way he talks about Horn in general. Is he looking to screw Crawford.
He's already looking at that Aussie boxer to fight Zurdo in the future as well.

This pictute is fishy as well.

No interest in another walk over for Crawford. Please put him in with Spence. It's the biggest fight in the pure sporting sense outside of the HW division.

More people will buy in the promoter keeps telling you that the huge underdog has a chance.
Calling it a mismatch isn't going to sell tickets.
Re: Terence Crawford vs. Jeff Horn - June 9, 2018
I agree that Horn is a "live dog" in the fight, that doesn't mean he is going to win. He can take a punch, hits pretty hard, has stamina. One reason that it's likely Crawford will win is because he's smart and won't underestimate him. It'll be a good fight. Horn will give all he's got.SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 May 2018, 20:27I just think that Arum has a fight to sell.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑21 May 2018, 10:42 Arum: Horn a Live Dog, Has Very Good Chance To Beat Crawford

Crawford in my honest opinion is too much too soon for Horn

I'm not certain that there will ever be a time when Horn is ready for Crawford.
Just a huge edge in the natural skills department for Crawford.
Crawford will dissect Horn, batter him and eventually stop him.
An aging Pacquiao was on the brink of KOing Horn. If Crawford has Horn in that much trouble, he won't let the opportunity slip away.

Is it me or has this fight not received much hype? Or is it the same for all Crawford fights? He's been out a while.

True, I've heard little about it.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Jun 2018, 03:20 Is it me or has this fight not received much hype? Or is it the same for all Crawford fights? He's been out a while.
Obviously the mainstream media will virtually ignore it. But even in the boxing community there's little buzz.
Crawford, despite his in-ring credentials, doesn't have the charisma to cross over and become a true star.
He's dour. Prickly. Not fan friendly.
It will help when he climbs into the ring with some big names (no, Indongo and Gamboa are not world famous) but until he does, casuals view him as just another fighter.
And Horn certainly isn't respected as a champion. He's someone who was very fortunate to get the nod over an old Pacquiao and figures to get dissected the first time he meets a top fighter in his prime. And that probably happens next.
So Saturday's bout just isn't a headline grabber. Crawford is about a 10-1 favorite, so there appears to be little suspense or interest about the outcome.
But I guarantee you one thing. ESPN will breathlessly overhype the fight this week, encouraging you to fork over your $4.99 monthly fee to witness a potential Fight of the Year.

To be honest, I think he should have fought Pacman a few years ago.SenorPipino wrote: ↑04 Jun 2018, 09:07 Obviously the mainstream media will virtually ignore it. But even in the boxing community there's little buzz.

Or potentially, when Pacquiao had his 3rd fight vs. Bradley, He should have fought Bud.
