Didn't know when Sulaiman was given his promotional license. He sounds like one.
Re: Canelo Álvarez - Gennady Golovkin II - Negotiations

Re: Canelo Álvarez -Gennady Golovkin II - Negotiations
Canelo vs. O'Sullivan won't even be a PPV event in the US. No one is going to pay PPV money to see that fight. Canelo will have to pick a much tougher opponent to be able to charge PPV money for it.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑30 May 2018, 13:32If he fights O'Sullivan, Canelo will sell about 1/3 of PPVs, he would have sold against Golovkin. It may be a little more with other opponents, but no more than 1/2 compared to Golovkin fight.

De La Hoya: I'll Never Make a 50-50 Deal When It Involves Canelo!
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who promotes Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs), makes it clear that he's never agree to a 50-50 split for a rematch with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs).
Golovkin is looking for a 50-50 monetary split - while Canelo is standing firm on a split of 65-35.
"I'll never make a 50-50 deal when it involves Canelo. It's impossible. When people say the A-side, its means the people he can pull in, the numbers that he can draw without having a Triple G on the B-side. Canelo can fight a [Daniel] Jacobs and do a 750-800,000 homes easy [on pay-per-view]," De La Hoya told BS.com.
"Why give [50-50 to] a fighter who fights only for a million dollars, and fights a Vanes Martirosyan and does ratings that are not really to par to what Canelo does."
The two sides were initially scheduled to fight on May 5, back at T-Mobile.
The contest fell out after Canelo tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol - which is why Golovkin is requesting a much better split for the new rematch date.
De La Hoya is not worried about the possibility of Golovkin walking away - because they will then focus their energy on reaching a deal with Jacobs or someone else in the middleweight division.
Having said that, De La Hoya hopes that two sides can find a compromise that works for both parties.
"We can walk away too, no big deal. We will just go fight the guy who gave Golovkin a lot of trouble, Danny Jacobs," De La Hoya said.
"We have to find a middle-ground, for the sake of boxing, for the sake of Canelo, for the sake of Triple. Everybody wants to see this fight."

Funny because they gave Cotto more than 50%..
Also, they should go ahead and make the Jacobs fight.

There's no need for Canelo to make any concessions, because he's the fighter generating the revenue, regardless of the thoughts of the harcore minority.tiny_acres wrote: ↑05 Jun 2018, 20:26Damn and people called Mayweather delusional....... Canelo will sell 300k against Spike. He is not generating that much without a popular dancing partner.

De La Hoya: Canelo-Jacobs Deal in Play, No 50-50 For Golovkin
Oscar De La Hoya insists he won’t wait any longer for Gennady Golovkin.
Canelo Alvarez’s promoter told ESPN.com on Tuesday night that he has abandoned hope of salvaging an Alvarez-Golovkin middleweight championship rematch for September 15. Instead, Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez has sent a formal offer to Daniel Jacobs’ promoter, Eddie Hearn, for an Alvarez-Jacobs fight that night.
De La Hoya said he turned to Jacobs because Golovkin won’t back off of his demand of a 50-50 purse split with Alvarez.
“He’s stubborn and wanting 50-50, and it’s not going to happen,” De La Hoya told ESPN.com regarding Golovkin. “The Canelo train has left the station.”
“So there’s a deal on the table for Daniel Jacobs to fight September 15 against Canelo,” De La Hoya said. “Eddie loves the idea. He loves the fight. Daniel Jacobs loves the fight and we love the fight as well. So we’re just moving forward and making sure that Canelo has the toughest dance partner possible for September 15.”
De La Hoya told ESPN.com that he was willing to give Golovkin a 60-40 split, but not 50-50.
“What people are not understanding is I am not going to come off my demands for the rematch,” De La Hoya said.
“The fact that GGG is stubborn on a 50-50 split and it’s ludicrous. It’s never going to happen. He wants 50-50 and it’s never going to happen. We had already come to terms and they had the contracts a long time, several weeks, and now he wants 50-50?”
Golovkin accepted a 70-30 split for their first fight, a controversial 12-round draw September 16 at T-Mobile Arena.
“We were willing to budge, but now I’m fed up with this and I’ve decided to move on,” De La Hoya said. “So we’re talking to Eddie Hearn about Jacobs. Let’s make the best deal possible. The deal is on the table for Daniel Jacobs and hopefully we can get it signed sooner than later, so we can start promoting the fight.”

It seems that GGG isn't as noble and dignified as you think he is, because Loeffler has just confirmed that Golovkin is now willing to reduce his purse split demands from his original insistence on receiving 50%.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 21:35The guy knows what dignity is and is willing to sacrifice for it. It seems that GBP's threat to arrange a bout between Canelo and Jacobs has called GGG's bluff and forced the Kazakh into a compromise.

Golovkin Promoter: GGG Will Move From 50-50 To Fight Canelo
“Gennady would agree to come off the 50 percent in order to make it work,” Loeffler said to the Las Vegas Review Journal. “I’m thinking about all the plans for Triple G’s next fight, although the IBF made it a lot easier to not worry about the IBF mandatory.
“I’ve been talking to [Golden Boy Promotions President] Eric Gomez on a regular basis. I don’t want to criticize what Oscar [De La Hoya] said. It’s clearly the biggest fight for both guys and the biggest fight in boxing. It’s my job and Eric’s job to figure out a way to make the fight work.”

Golovkin Promoter Shocked at IBF: They Were Unfair To GGG!
Tom Loeffler, promoter for WBC, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs), admits they were shocked by Wednesday's decision from the International Boxing Federation - who decided to strip GGG of their middleweight belt.
“It comes as a complete surprise,” Loeffler said to the Las Vegas Review Journal. “That’s not what the Derevyanchenko side was asking for (to strip Golovkin). They were just asking for a certain amount of time before they would get the mandatory opportunity.
“I’m not sure how the IBF got to the point to strip Triple G. It comes as a complete surprise and completely unfair the way the IBF has treated Triple G.”

Golovkin Promoter: We'd Go To 55-45 - That Makes Canelo A-Side
Loeffler said Golovkin is willing to drop his demands for an even split.
"Gennady has agreed to come off his 50-50 demand," Loeffler added to ESPN. "Gennady wants the rematch with Canelo regardless of what Oscar says. He always wanted the fight with Canelo.
"He will come down to 55-45, which makes Canelo the A side. It will be Canelo making 55 percent in a rematch against GGG, which will be much bigger than the first fight was for sure. The rematch with GGG is his biggest fight by far and Gennady's biggest fight. That's the fight we want."

It is not Canelo-Jacobs threat which made GGG change his mind. It was losing the IBF belt which made a fight with BJS or defense against Charlo less valuable.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 03:11It seems that GGG isn't as noble and dignified as you think he is, because Loeffler has just confirmed that Golovkin is now willing to reduce his purse split demands from his original insistence on receiving 50%.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 21:35The guy knows what dignity is and is willing to sacrifice for it. Well whatever reason that caused GGG to revise his stance on his purse split is surely a good thing. Negotiations of this nature rarely succeed if both sides aren't willing to compromise.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑07 Jun 2018, 12:09It is not Canelo-Jacobs threat which made GGG change his mind. Golden Boy Prez: Golovkin Must Accept 57.5-42.5 By Tomorrow
Golden Boy Promotions President Eric Gomez, who guides Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, has lost his patience and he's not willing to waste any further time when it comes to the negotiations for a rematch with IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.
Gomez told ESPN that Golovkin now has a firm deadline 12 PM PST 3 PM EST on Wednesday to accept a monetary split of 57.5-42.5 - or else Golden Boy would move forward with finalizing a deal to face Daniel Jacobs on September 15th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“This is final,” Gomez said. “We’ve been through everything. We’ve been through the hoops, the monkey bars, the slides. No more playing games. He has until noon (PT) to accept or walk away. If he walks away, good luck to him.”

Golovkin Declines Golden Boy’s Final Offer for Canelo Rematch
Gennady Golovkin has turned down what Oscar De La Hoya has said was his final financial offer for a rematch with Canelo Alvarez.
Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter, told Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez of Golovkin’s decision before the deadline of noon PT Wednesday that Gomez and De La Hoya gave Loeffler on Tuesday.
Golovkin declined a 57.5-42.5 revenue split that would’ve favored Alvarez, more than the 65-35 split Golovkin initially accepted for a lucrative middleweight championship rematch that was supposed to take place May 5.
“No fight,” De La Hoya told ESPN.com. “There is no fight. We want the fight. Tom Loeffler wants the fight. Clearly the only person here who doesn’t want the fight is Triple-G. The fans want the fight. We bent over backwards. We’ve come up and there’s no budge from him, so there’s no fight. One-hundred percent, there is no fight.”
According to ESPN.com, however, Golden Boy is willing to pitch an unspecified “Hail Mary” idea for deal that they’re in the process of sending to Golovkin.
An angered Golovkin demanded a 50-50 split for their rematch three weeks ago in large part because he wanted more compensation for the trouble Alvarez’s suspension for two failed performance-enhancing drug tests caused him. Kazakhstan’s Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs) missed out on a huge payday May 5 because Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) was banned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission from fighting that night.
