At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
Other than Terence Crawford moving up to Welterweight 147 what are his weaknesses in term of style ?
There have been rumblings of a potential upset.

Where have you heard these upset rumblings?
The only ones who have forecast a Horn victory are Lonergan and Rushton.
And Jeff Fenech too.
But that's to be expected.
If Horn tries to bullrush Crawford, this could very well be a ridiculously easy and quick win for the challenger.
One of the knocks on Crawford is that he can be a slow starter. But if Horn tries to establish physical and strength superiority immediately, Crawford will be forced to turn it on early.
Bad news for Horn. He'll get whacked with Crawford's full arsenal. He'll be hurt quick and may not survive the opening rounds.
Some question Crawford's chin. He's been rocked like just about all fighters, but he's never been stopped or beaten for that matter. So his chin is fine until it's demonstrated otherwise.
And while Horn is a strong guy, I don't consider him a particularly hard puncher. His shots probably won't bother or deter Crawford.
Upset? I would consider it bigger than Douglas over Tyson.
Douglas was a very talented fighter with questionable desire. Horn has the desire but his skills are dwarfed by Crawford's.
It doesn't figure to be a very happy night for the optimistic Aussie delegation.

He's a bit of a slow starter at times, but I've never seen him fail to pick it up in a big way from about the 3rd or 4th round onward.
I have no doubt whatsoever that he'll dismantle Jeff Horn in one sided fashion.

You sound like me.
Crawford is ready and primed for his welter debut.
I really envision a blowout.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
IMO someone like Marcos Maidana or prime Pacqiao can beat Crawford. But Horn will get stopped.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
Not sure about a blow out, think he might let Horn show his hand then turn up the heat on him, take him apart piece by piece.SenorPipino wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 11:16You sound like me.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
If Crawford hangs back, takes it easy, and let's Horn take the first 2 or 3 rounds I wouldn't be shocked, but Horn will be a badly beaten, and bloody mess by the end of it.littlepug wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 11:20Not sure about a blow out, think he might let Horn show his hand then turn up the heat on him, take him apart piece by piece.SenorPipino wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 11:16You sound like me.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
I like Crawford, he has his flaws but he is clearly top notch and could do big things at welterweight.
I certainly can't see Horn winning more than a couple rounds. Possibly even getting stopped mid-late.
Not a slight on Horn, he is a decent fighter.
I just feel that Crawford is much better than Pacman nowadays (and has been for a while tbh) and look at how close Horn's fight with Pacman was.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
I'd just say, that I expect Crawford to establish himself as the best guy of his new division.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
I've been a fan of Jeff Horn since he beat Colomban & predicted he would give Manny a tough fight (which he did & it could have gone either way - F*ck You, Teddy
) but I think Crawford takes him apart & wins before the 6th.
He's a special talent is Bud.

So you're predicting a methodical blowout then?littlepug wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 11:20Not sure about a blow out, think he might let Horn show his hand then turn up the heat on him, take him apart piece by piece.SenorPipino wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 11:16You sound like me.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
Predictions of an upset are ridiculous. This isnt in Australia and he's not fighting a 5'6 guy he can bully. Horn loses badly.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
Horn is dead meat, no call for doubts.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
He didn't beat the 5'6 guy either (who's well past his prime by the way). If it had been anywhere else on the planet he'd have lost that decision.
Crawford is primed, and one of the best in the sport right now. He's levels above Horn.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
It seems like that nearly a year later, there are a lot of revised memories of that fight.
I scored it 116-111 Pacquiao with a 10-8 9th round. 8-4 in rounds.
If you like tough, bullying aggression then I suppose you liked Horn in that bout.
But overwhelmingly, the clean, effective and more accurate punches were landed by Pacquiao.
It was a lopsided 182-92 edge by the Filipino champion in punches landed.
Pacquiao outlanded Horn in 11 of the 12 rounds.
Horn threw more punches 625-573 overall but is credited with landing just 15% of his shots compared to 32% for Pacquiao.
It really wasn't close. Pacquiao dominated.
It was simply Horn's spirited effort that gave the fight the misleading feel of being somewhat competitive.
And Horn's ineffectiveness came against an undertrained, aging Pacquiao.
So how can he hope to survive against the younger, in his prime Crawford, who is clearly superior to Pacquiao at this stage?

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
Trying to outbox Mayweather is a lost cause for all but the most exceptionally talented guys that have ever been. I'm not sure if Crawford fits into that category just yet. It'd have been an interesting bout because Crawford tends to be more aggressive, and go for the KO more, but yeah I'd tend to agree that prime Floyd would've outboxed him.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
By the way. Why did this thread become a "guys from the past that could beat Crawford" thread anyway?
As it stands right now I think the only threat to him at Welterweight is Spence. I'd favor him over everybody else confidently.

Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
I expect to see Spence at LMW soon, he looks too big for WW. It might be only my personal feeling, but I don't believe he will face Crawford at WW.
Re: At this stage ... doubts about Terence Crawford ?
I don't either. Not because either of them are afraid of each other either. It's just they have promoters that basically wouldn't work with each other for anything other than an unbelievably profitable megafight.
