Watkins just didn`t look interested. He threw nothing. Okolie doesn`t fill me with confidence that he could threaten the likes of Breidis, Dorticos, Usyk and Gassiev. Still early doors though.

Okolie looked the bollocks, his reach is fvckin insane, he used it excellent tonight, kept Watkins on the outside and just nailed him with right hands, Watkins always starts slow and doesn't throw much early but Okolie was landing some clean punches and it was only a matter of time before he shook Watkins, give Watkins credit he stood up to some big shots before finally going down the first time but you knew Okolie wasn't gonna let him off the hook, just battered him down with right hands, Watkins mustve known he was gonna have to start fast and not allow Okolie to soften him up early with big shots

Was a good night of prospect boxing.
Good for the weekday.

When he measures it he looks great, bit messy up close but he is a good prospect, proper power.

Belloti was trying to tell him NO as Foster was rushing insamwbr wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 17:08It was maybe early and I can agree with all you say also but he is there to protect them. Belloti didn't moan and was still on pretty shaky legs when he was taken back to the corner.forcefraser wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 17:03But give the guy a count, look in his eyes and then make the decision. He just dived in before he even went down. Look at the Cheeseman fight, that lad was given a chance.
Bellotti was the champion here. You can`t stop fights like that without even giving the lad a count. Terrible. Could have been a classic. Imagine Foster in the Castillo v Corrales fight? Holyfield v Bowe? Ward v Gatti. They would never have happened.

It's official. Okolie is the best Cruiserweight vegan in the UK.

good performance by wilder, i mean okolie, but man is watkins slow and easy to hit. he fights like hes got an invisible 7 stone vest on. watching his past fights i expected him to get battered though not so fast
the wsbb winner will prob move up to hw, maaybe okolie will be ready by then to fight for a vacant title

I really prefer when a boxer takes a belt from another boxer. Can't always happen. Just makes the win more credible.jamamb wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 18:22 good performance by wilder, i mean okolie, but man is watkins slow and easy to hit. he fights like hes got an invisible 7 stone vest on. watching his past fights i expected him to get battered though not so fast

Thought the Belotti stoppage was early. Foster was jumping all over him before he'd even gone down. What's the harm in giving him a few seconds to see if he can get himself sorted? It reminded me of his stoppage in DeGale/Periban. He was all over Periban as soon as he went down and was almost holding him down on the canvas while the boxer was trying to stand. Very similar to the way he had his hands on Belotti tonight. Credit to Doyle though, was a cracking fight and would like to see a rematch.
Okolie is a weird one. The way he holds his lead hand out almost in his opponents face reminds me of the way you'd fight your older brother. He'd put his hand on your forehead and you'd swing away underneath it but your arms weren't long enough to reach him. He's got no inside game Okolie and often smothers his own work (see the Chamberlain fight) which leads to a lot of clinches so I think he'll be in some absolute stinkers. It's like his arms are so long and skinny that he physically can't bend them to throw hooks. He'll always have the ability to end fights quickly like he did tonight though. That awkwardness and power could be tough the beat. Deserves plaudits for taking on 2 undefeated fighters for titles early in his pro career as well, especially considering his limited amateur background. Askin would be another good step up.

askin is way better then watkins, it would be a huge step but id love to see it
Re: Round-by-Round: Luke Watkins vs. Lawrence Okolie - 6 June 2018
Watkins did aboslutely nothing, credit to Okolie, but it was the easiest nights work he has had in ages. A journeyman would have given him a better fight.
Askin is the logical next step (due to the lack of depth domestically at cruiserweight) but I would expect Askin to have too much for Okolie.
