Re: Joseph Parker vs. Bryant Jennings - August 18, 2018?
You've got to like Parker. He does not have the greatest names on his resume. But he has some real solid contenders
on his resume. This is just another. I give him huge respect for his willingness to fight anyone.
The biggest criticism I have of Parker is that he fights only to the level of his opposition.
Besides that he is the perfect contender

More or less confirmed now.
Damn! I wish more fighters were like Parker. Straight onto the next one and it's a name fighter, not some pushover fighter.
Like someone above said, he's not got the best resume, but his resume shows that he doesn't necessarily fight weak opposition.

Will be interesting to see where he goes after this (if he wins). If he could take a top-5 scalp that would be very, very impressive. He's ranked 6, 6, 7 in 3/4 orgs, so he might be in line for an eliminator or atleast aiming for one. Would love to see him against Ortiz/Povetkin/Whyte, although that probably wouldn't be until next year.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 03:46

There's a surprise! Two Top Rank fighters facing each other.
Parker scores a decision victory over the defensive-minded and negative Jennings.

This is it though. He's taking a decent comeback, literally 6 months after losing to AJ, which you have to respect him. I doubt he took much damage against AJ anyway. Now days, you don't really need to fight a top contender too get a final eliminator, but oh well, Jennings should do it, although it would have been better if Jennings had better comeback fights himself. We don't know anything about him really since the Wlad defeat.joshj909 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 04:26

Parker wants to get back in the mix and a win here will see him rise up the ranks in the orgs.
BTW, which org doesn't currently rank him?

WBA doesn't rank him, kind of understandable as he's been champ for another belt for a while. They rank Jennings in at 13, and Ustinov at 10. Have a feeling he's trying to get ranked in all orgs seeing as of those two, Jennings is only ranked elsewhere at WBO.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑06 Jun 2018, 04:48This is it though. Also, looks like we may have celebrated prematurely, however i'm still confident it will go through. The mention of Ustinov again worries me a little though.

Yeh, I just saw the article myself. Maybe terms have been agreed and they're working on final bits. That's the thing with co-promotions. Arum will say one thing and Higgins will say another.
I'm still confident the Jennings fight will happen. I don't think he should fight Ustinov, no matter how 'big' it might be in New Zealand. He needs to build profile and the States is a good place to start. He's known to the boxing public in the UK now, he should get his name around USA.

Interesting fight...late TKO by Parker is my first thought.

Bad news for fans of this fight:

Who could be likely for Jennings then on Aug 18th? if they were willing to spend the money on Parker then i imagine they are going to be ambitious
