Rehydration

Post by James9753 »

What size do most Super Middleweights, Light Heavyweights and Cruiserweights rehydrate to respectively on fight night?

Most top SMWs are just MWs that drain down. The top dudes are usually around 170 lbs. By the way, I wouldn't believe Hurd's fight night weight of ~160 lbs. because he has the IBF and they do that rehydration rule. No way he was that much the day of the fight.

LHW are around 180 lbs., weirdly enough. I'd thought they'd be a lot bigger since most are 6'+. Kovalev, Ward, and Barrera all have been around 185 lbs. when you see their fight night weights. Surprised that I don't see the top dudes draining massively. Bivol doesn't look like he drains a lot either. Guy looks small. Alvarez and Jack do look huge, though. I've never seen either's fight night weight. I'd imagine 190, though.

CW's are massive. I think Usyk's fight night weigh is around 215 lbs. I think most are around 220 lbs. except the smaller guys like Lebedev. CW's are mostly just in-shape HW's. Guys like Kudryashov, Gassiev, Brieidis, and Usyk are pretty much HWs.

Just from what I've seen, which has been sporadic since HBO Now rarely shows fight night weights. They usually cut that stuff out.

Usyk was 210 lbs in his fight against Michael Hunter. Gvozdyk vs Gonzales - both weighed 185 lbs

Surprised they both weighed that much. They're both huge-looking LHWs. Gonzalez, especially. Guy looked a division bigger than Pascal in their fight. As I said, LHW doesn't seem to have a huge issue with drainers. Constantly surprised that Kovalev doesn't weigh that much, especially Sullivan Barrera. Hell, I think Ward weighed more or the same as Barrera in their fight. Was ridiculous considering how big and muscular Barrera is.

sullivan barrera was 190 vs smith and smith was 187. they are in the 6 feet to 6'2 range . theyd easily be hws in earlieer eras

its why i have some issues with fighters like jack johnson being rated so highly as hws when so much of his opposition wasnt any bigger then lhws today, he fought even smaller guys then that too. same is true of many other top early hw era champs

jack won the title vs 5'7 168 tommy burns, and that 168 is with same day weigh in i think

There is a person that maintains the rehydrated weights announced by TV networks, such as HBO, via the basementgymboxing.blogspot.com website.

I spent quite a bit of time verifying the stats from this website and they are accurate.

It lists the rehydrated weights of hundreds of fights.

Whatever you do, don't pay any attention to morons that believe SMW's are the same size as MW's.

Those sort of people are fûckîng lunatics!

Honestly Mexi-Box, this is the biggest bunch of crap drivel you've ever written and that's a bold statement, i know. You are absolutely clueless with this subject and obviously never been involved with a sport in which a scale was involved. CLUELESS. You are even clueless about the rules (IBF got rid of the second weigh in for unification fights after GGG/Jacobs).

I will guarantee you that Hurd easily rehydrates 25 pounds at least. I know because my rehydration average was 27-32 pounds during my wrestling career. Don't tell me that it's not possible because everyone around me was rehydrating at the same rate and we were lightweights. The bigger the guy the more they can rehydrate.

Just sitting on the couch guessing the weight of people on tv doesn't qualify you to throw garbage like this out there.

At the IBF-mandated Saturday morning weight check all six fighters on the Showtime card were within the allowable 10-pound weight gain limit. Lara was 163, Hurd 163.6, Truax 176, DeGale 174.6, Williams 162.8, Gallimore 159. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0 ... 51575420-4

You've never been in a combat sport, stop lying. Doing gay-porn isn't wrestling. :KO:

And I know the IBF stopped second-day weigh ins for unifications, but they still happen for some reason. You're obviously just a joke poster that comes at the king to get destroyed. I slap you around like I slap around all the other idiots that try to step to me. :OhYes:

Documentary following a fighter losing 15lbs (7kg) in his hotel room on the Thursday night (weigh in was on the Friday) was eye opening .

Not only how he cut 10% of his body weight off only night but what some experts said the short and long term dangers of doing this are .

Top LHWs are generally around 190. Top CWs probably don't cut so much weight because CW is a black sheep division and HW is a prestige division, so if you weigh around 220 you're probably going to fight at HW for the better paydays, even if you are at a significant size disadvantage against guys like AJ and Fury.
