He has several bout listed in 1911-1914, which took place in New York. These clearly belong to a different Eddie Hanlon, a Maspeth middleweight. The retired featherweight Eddie Hanlon was a well-known referee in California at the time ( http://boxrec.com/en/referee/406502 ).
For example, 1911-02-17 Eddie Hanlon ND4 Lew Diamond took place in New York. Eddie Hanlon refereed bouts in Oakland and San Francisco on Feb 15 and Feb 24.
1912-06-01 Eddie Hanlon L-KO2 Al McCoy in Brooklyn. California Eddie Hanlon refereed Edler-Miller on May 31 in San Francisco.

Here's a report of 1913-05-19 Hanlon-Diamond bout, which proves this Hanlon was a middleweight:

1913-05-20 The Brooklyn Daily Eagle (Brooklyn, NY) (page S2)
HANLON OUTPOINTS DIAMOND.
Despite a handicap of twelve pounds, Eddie Hanlon of Maspeth outpointed Lew Diamond in the star bout of ten rounds last night at the Military A. C. Diamond entered the ring weighing 167 pounds and looked the part, while Hanlon tipped the beam at 155. Diamond had matters his way for the first two rounds, but in the third both boys battled at an even pace. Thereafter Eddie forced the going, and at the end of the bout led by a safe margin. In the semi-final of ten rounds Monk Green and Knockout Price were scheduled to go ten rounds. Green finished his man in the second round.
