Kris George vs Josh Kelly

Post by handsofstone »

George defends his Commonwealth Welterweight title against unbeaten Olympian Kelly this weekend on Sky, Kelly aiming to become the 3rd 2016 Rio Olympian to win the Commonwealth after Joyce and Okolie, should be a straightforward win, ive never seen George, he has a stoppage win over Brubaker who got a gift against Nurse a few weeks ago and his only loss was to a guy who was 5-2

I thought Kelly was excellent against Molina as he has been since turning over, I cant see him coming unstuck at this level , keeps his lands low and can be a bit left hand happy but overall he seems to be the full package, great footwork, upper body movement and is quick and accurate, I fancy him to stop George in the second half

Lol, it does crack me up that you make predictions on fights without seeing fighters. Its hard to take you seriously. How do you assess Georges punch power? Movement? Ring IQ? Foot speed? Etc. Off his boxrec?

So I guess you never make predictions on fights unless you’ve seen every single fight that both boxers have been involved in?

I had Kelly way in front but I was far from impressed, I'm gonna admit ive bought into they hype with him, I was never that impressed with his fights so far, I was the same with Campbell, 1 fight great 1 fights shit, great boxers usually don't have shit fights at this level , I'm not doubting Kelly's ability but his offence is piss poor if we talking top level, George was having his moments late on which doesn't bode well if Kelly steps up to European level

Fair play to Kelly for getting the KO and Commonwealth title but he wont go far with the lack of killer instinct

He doesn't have the power to fight that style. Booth is f*cking this one up. He needs to be way more active than he is. He will end up getting beat by an average worker of a fighter. Someone tough and high volume with a good chin like LSC. Adrian Granados type would give him serious problems. The guy who did skeete is euro champ right? He's another one who would do Kelly.

He needs concussive power for that style and doesn't have it.

yep good posts guys, kelly has talent no doubt but im not convinced hell prove to be special stepping up. got the feeling hell be lacking in power moving up in class and not sure how far the athleticsm will go in talented divisions. defo agree on a busy hardnose fighter being a good test for him

although easy to forget hes still got like what, 7 pro fights.. interesting to see how he progresses. he feels like a guy i can see a pretty wide range of outcomes for
