To all the idiots claiming Wilder was given special treatment against Ortiz

Post by BitPlayer »

Someone on the Joe Joyce undercard got checked out by the doctor after the break. As I kept saying, it was nothing abnormal.

It definitely was abnormal. Not sure if it was "special treatment" necessarily or just bad judgment, but it's not something I've seen often, and it came at a crucial moment that allowed him more recovery time.

They said it's the current NYSAC rules. I've seen it before and since in various fights on undergrads etc. including both getting checked after the break during some wars.

Apparently true. Don't see why they can't check the fighter during the break between rounds though instead. Seems silly waiting til after.

I don't agree it was special treatment either, but it is unusual.

Key words:

"checked out by the doctor after the break. "

Do you understand that? "After the break".

Idiot.

Doctor and ref diving in right in the middle of the action when the house fighter is in big trouble and rubber legged...to examine him!...at a point in the fight when every split second counts! Give me a f'g break.

That fight should have been awarded to Ortiz or at least NC and an immediate rematch ordered. Crooked f'g boxing!

If that wasn't special treatment I don't know what is!

It always used to be during the break that these kind of checks would happen. Normally the referee would call the ring doctor to have a close look if he felt it was necessary but no extra recovery time would be granted.

At this level any check on a hurt fighter during the round will always bring suspicion that they are getting precious extra recovery time.
Fifty years later they still talk about the famous torn glove incident in Cooper v Clay.

Imagine the uproar if this happens in the GGG v Canelo rematch? Surely, at the least, the fighter being checked out must receive a standing 8 count?

Except the part where that didn't actually happen. The ref waved Wilder to get checked immediately before any fighting started or either even came close to throwing a punch.

Maybe the idea is so they have the time to sort out cuts strategies or something. I don't get it either, but it's how they decided to do it, and you see it pretty often in hard fights.

The doctors did the same check in the 4 fights leading up to the Wilder Ortiz fight when a fighter was I trouble in the previous round. They did it to Dirrell on the televised undercard but I am pretty sure I heard him say I quit to the doctors right before they stopped his fight.

I guess the commission doesn't see a few more seconds as big enough a deal to interrupt a fighter's corner time with his trainer and cutman.

I feel the "special treatment" claims are coming from the Wilder haters/ Ortiz supporters and helps them accept the reality of what transpired.

Bull. You are a liar.

This guy isn't the only one trying to pull this "that didn't actually happen" crap. I go on YouTube trying to find a full uncut vid of Ortiz-Wilder round 7 and find that round 7 has been censored out of most of the videos. This is the best I could find. It stops abruptly when the referee intervenes and appears to stop the fight in favor of Ortiz.

Are people that f'g stupid that they can be told that what they saw with their own eyes so recently "didn't actually happen" and believe it? I guess so.

Anyone condoning to this kind of cheating can only blame them self for giving the the powers of boxing one more tool to screw boxing and the fans.

Have fun in your world where the chance for the B side to win every now and then is finally eliminated

Wilder had a little special treatment but for me it doesn't matter because he proved he can fight against a top opponent.

The typical whiners still distraught over not getting what they wanted. Truth is Ortiz couldn't even drop much less stop him. Excuse after excuse, followed by the cold dim reality of being wrong. Rinse and repeat. What a life..

The life, death, and resurrection of the man they call Brut was the last pivotal movement here in CS. It seems these grassy noll zapruder seconds are slowly becoming vital too. The only way for some to preserve their unrealized dream.

It was timing of the Dr’s intervention, not the premise. And yes, it was abnormal. Wilder was on Queer Street at the time.

For the record, Ortiz being 40 years plus had shot his load trying to finish him and even without the Dr’s intervention, I still think Wilder would’ve won. My respect for Wilder after the Ortiz win tripled.

The referee stopped the fight in round eight and that was the end of it. Ortiz won the fight. You can't stop a fight and then when you think your man feels better restart it again!
