Josh Taylor week

Post by Stuarty »

It's almost hitting fight week for Taylor v Postol and I'm frickin buzzing! Ricky Burns done well and I was at a lot of his fights but I've genuinely never been so excited about a Scottish fighter since Scott Harrison. I think Taylor could prove to be the best of the lot (barring Ken Buchanan).

When I was wee my dad and mammy used to have a couple of my uncles and their mates over for Eubank and Benn fights. Me and my brother were allowed to stay up to watch and we got loads of sweets (obviously to keep us silent). I'm doing the same this weekend. I've told the kids and the Mrs that everyone is watching it and they can have plenty of sweets etc... Hopefully he wins or my bubble will be well burst

I'm thinking a Taylor KO in the 4th :bag:

Stopping Postol will not be easy. I think Taylor will win a controversial split decision.

Taylor is exciting to watch. I like him a lot and I'm not biased by location. Postol is tough as they get, so I don't see Taylor getting him out unless he really breaks him down considerably first.
Taylor has been matched tough for a guy with so few fights, and that is one reason why I like him. I'm sick of watching guys like Diego DLH still knocking over softies 20 fights in.
Ask me who will win?
I don't know. That's exciting.

When the fight first got announced I thought Taylor stops him but as the fight gets closer I think Taylor points. Postol is dangerous and I can't see Taylor going for the KO if he don't need to

My opinion is probably irrelevant as as much as I’m a miserable inexcitable fuc-her I genuinely think my country has a proper once in a generation talent here - legit quality.

It’s definitely his litmus test though. Although Postol has peaked he has just started his slide and is obviously still an elite fighter at the weight. Taylor has beaten some decent kids and done so in the infancy of his career but Postol is his first world class opponent.

That said I just think Taylor is far too sharp for him. He’s got terrific hands and moves beautifully into range - a range that suits him whilst limiting his opponent. I genuinely think he’ll figure out Postol within 4/5 and will probably drop and stop him standing over the last 3. If he does that it is a massive statement.

Taylor will be a multi belt titleholder within 18 months at the weight. He’s quality

That's assuming his promoter can get him those opportunities.
A mandatory shot at a title- yes
A unification- we will have to see.

Have to say I think he's the absolute dogs bollox :TU: He could become a global star IMO, can properly fight, movie star looks, great talking to the camera and seems like an all round top Geezer. Supposed to taking the Mrs out, but definitely getting back for the main event.

Lee McGregor against some African with a funny name. Bet he'll be teak tough :OhYes:

Billy Nelsons big heavyweight Ilunga I think his name is? Billy seems to think he's the dogs bollocks but I've not seen him yet. Will be good to get a look at him. Tommy Philbin is on the card as is Chantelle Cameron. Not a very good undercard but looking forward to seeing McGregor :TU:

Could be interesting.

Postol is tough, but how much did the Crawford defeat take out of him?

He wasn't a ball of fire in his comeback bout, being dropped hard.

If he's at the top of his game, Postol gives Taylor all he can handle in a distance fight.

But I think Postol is on the slide, and Taylor will methodically wear him down and score a knockout by the 9th round.

Chantelle Cameron is on the undercard. If you haven't watched her yet, tune in - she is brilliant to watch. Very aggressive, strong, no nonsense style..

Taylor KO opened up at 2.05 in decimal odds with Bet 365, just above evens both KO and Points were priced at 2.05, the punters smashed the price down to odds on.

He is popular. A lot of expectation on Josh to get the KO. I hope he doesn't try too hard, too early. Postol is a tough old steak, he might need some marinading first.
Like Pipi said, break Postol down, let his age and some good early body shots get him ready.

While I have Taylor a favourite if I had to bet on a stoppage it would be the other way around.
