Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko have a lot in common. They were both tall, hard-punching HWs with weak chins, they were both dominant HWs, and they were both trained by Emanuel Steward. But, who was the better fighter between them?

Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lewis didn't have a week chin,he got hit with 2 big right hands, got up from one and was not even given the chance to try to continue, the Rahman ko was a proper ko,no disputing that one,Lewis was the better fighter,Wlad had a horrible style at times and Lewis had the better wins overall.
Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
They were similar for sure and both are ATGs, but Lewis was more versatile, Lewis had a better chin, Lewis could take risks better, so Lewis was better overall.
Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lewis and even more so if Manny is in his corner.
Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lewis was better boxer and tougher man. But Klitschko was beast too

He also got hit on the chin by some big punchers and never flinched, there was nothing wrong with his chin, just his attitude.paddy chavez wrote: ↑18 Jun 2018, 14:23Lewis got chinned by 2 average heavyweights ....his chin was his weakness for both his losesbigjack wrote: ↑18 Jun 2018, 13:35 Lewis didn't have a week chin,he got hit with 2 big right hands, got up from one and was not even given the chance to try to continue, the Rahman ko was a proper ko,no disputing that one,Lewis was the better fighter,Wlad had a horrible style at times and Lewis had the better wins overall.

Lewis by a country mile. It would have been like the Michael Grant fight all over again
Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
I think argument can be made that Wlad accomplished more, but it's hard to imagine he wouldn't have lost to Lennox head-to-head.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the history section as it has absolutely fûck all to do with the current scene?
Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Lewis.
In fact i'd pick Lewis to beat every HW in history in fantasy match ups.

Vlad is a top 10 HW for sure but Lewis would have taken him out, Lewis fought in a much better era

Wlad of course. Lewis was a very dirty fighter.

Here we go again,Lewis will be remembered for lots of things, great jab,3 times champ, the 2 ko defeats, the 2 revenge wins etc but nobody ever says he's a dirty fighter,Wlad would have shat himself with Lewis staring at him from across the ring.

There are two groups of people in this thread:
1. Those who think Wlad was the better heavyweight.
2. Those who are right.

Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Wlad has better stats. He has a lot more wins than Lennox. Another thing, I don’t buy into the - Lennox had a weak chin - school of thought. Those stoppages were more the exception than the rule.

Lewis, no question. Wlad wasn’t even better than Vitali.

Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Let's do the math:
Wladimir Klitschko = dominated the heavyweight division by remaining the number 1 heavyweight in the world for 10 years and had over 20 title defences.
Lennox Lewis = dominated the heavyweight division by remaining the number 1 heavyweight in the world for less than 10 years and had less than 20 title defences.
It's pretty simple! Wladimir Klitschko had the far superior boxing career. His heavyweight record is mathematically superior without any doubt.
As for Vitali Klitschko being better than Wladimir Klitschko. Lol. Vitali wasn't even better than Kubrat Pulev skill wise. And Vitali doesn't even have a better heavyweight record / resume than Wlad's leftover in Alexander Povetkin. That's just a fact! Vitali doesn't even compare to Wladimir Klitschko in terms of boxing accomplishments
A 38 year old Wladimir Klitschko cleanly KO'ed a prime Kubrat Pulev without needing any nonsensical referee stoppage. Whilst at the same age, Lewis needed the referee to gift him the victory against Vitali Klitschko because he was unable to win, purely on his own and retired like a coward by not giving Vitali the well deserved rematch that he earned. Wlad had the courage to continue fighting and proving himself, at a far older age.
There isn't any comparison! Lewis has no standout wins either. He beat no opponent that someone else also didn't beat, or didn't beat more convincingly / as convincingly. Whilst Wladimir Klitschko beat many opponents that only he beat, or beat most convincingly. E.G. Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev, Sultan Ibragimov and Eddie Chambers.
There's no logical way one could infer that Lewis was better. Not only was Wlad better, but he was better by a significant margin. Just a far superior athlete and technician overall.

Re: Lewis or Wlad, who was better?
Vitali? Come on, he was way better than both Wlad and Lewis. He retired 46-2 with being the WBO champ, and, twice, the WBC champ. He was ahead on all 3 scorecards against Lewis when the fight was stopped. In his entire pro boxing career, the former kickboxer was never knocked down, he NEVER even touched the floor. Vitali was a beast!
