Bell picked up the vacant title (Toney vacated after beating long-time holder Jirov)
Unified with a KO over Mormeck who had already added the WBA title to his WBC
Lost in the rematch to Mormeck by which time the IBF belt was vacant again

Think even the Ring threw their belt into the mix with those two so no lineage per se but consensus number one at the point.

I liked Cunningham, he gets unfair stick but has a good record at cruiser:

Rothmann
Jones
Davis (bit of a push but did briefly hold the IBF title and dropped Bell)
Split a brace of bouts with Wlod
Stoppage of Huck
SD loss to Adamek
Braithwaite

I reckon Haye would have KO'd him.
Cunningham - Haye might look a lot like the 2nd Hernandez fight, though- if Haye didn't stop him in the first 6 he'd be asked some interesting questions down the stretch. but Cunningham not being the fleetest of foot or slickest and hardly unhittable, would be vulnerable to the explosive assaults early.

its one where Haye matches better head to head than record-wise IMO

Wonder if he'll end up broke , he obviously likes the millionaire lifestyle but spending millions when its not coming in any more , can end up badly

That's the best retirement statement I've ever heard.

If ever a man knew the game was up & has come to terms with it, it's Haye.

Also, I didn't even realise he'd had spinal surgery in 2015.

Taking that into account & add in all his other injuries, it's amazing he made it to a boxing ring ever again.

Pure class from Haye, who has now gone back up in my estimation.

Enjoy your retirement, champ.

Yes, agreed. He was legit as a cruiser vs Gurov, Fragomeni, Mormeck & Maccarinelli. The last few years have been terrible.

I think he wasted his peak years between wladimir and his come back last year maybe he knew he couldn't beat wlad so waited for him to retire but he could of maybe fought povetkin but I guess he didn't want to be no2 .I think some got a bit carried away with Haye at heavyweight hoping he'll be the next exciting champ as he looked the part but in reality he didn't really do a lot at the weight.

Definitely agree with this.

I have said before, he is one of the finest CWs ever, but his HW career was one of the most cynical ever & should be quickly forgotten.
