what is the sanctioning fees for the IBO World title ?

Post by biglefthook »

What is the sanction fees for the Ibo ( international boxing organisation) world title

As they are not in the top 4 but are still very popular with the current world champions Iwould like to know what their sanctioning fees are ?

Too much for the likes of Britain's for Frankie Gavin's promoter who could not afford it without a sponsor and no tv

And I see George Groves didn't even bother to pay for the fees against eubank jnr

I understand the ibo was not the biggest war title out there but they have a lot of respect and have a lot of Great World champions

IBO regarded as the 5th belt its equivalent to The number 2 belt of the other 4 like a inter-continental title or so

They are listed here. For purses above $1 million, it is 3% of the purse from the champion and 3% from the challenger, so 6% total. There are also other fees such as officials and promoter fees.

The IBO are a terrible organisation and my opinion is based on research.

Take a look at the following post I submitted in January 2018:

Enlightened-One wrote: 21 Jan 2018, 19:33 At the start of 2017, the IBO carried no credibility , due to the following reasons:
• 79% of the IBO’s champions earned their belt by competing for the vacant title.
• 50% of the IBO champions are not rated in ESPN or Ring’s top ten divisional rankings, with 72% of those titleholders being South African.
• In 43% of the IBO’s most recent vacant world title fights, at least one of the competitors were allowed to compete for the belt despite failing to win their previous outing.

The above stats don’t seem to have changed much.

For instance: here’s a list of some of their current champions that are completely anonymous to me:

Cruiserweight: Kevin Lerena (South Africa)
Lightweight: Emmanuel Tagoe (Ghana)
Super Featherweight: Shavkat Rakhimov (Russia)
Super Flyweight: Gideon Buthelezi (South Africa)
Minimumweight: Simphiwe Khonco (South Africa)

Chris Eubank Jr. is the only fighter amongst their roster of so-called “world champions” that actually captured their world title from an existing IBO champion, since the other eight titleholders merely competed for vacant titles! :o

Therefore, the IBO still has no credibility whatsoever!

Most of their current world champions are anonymous and a disproportionate amount of them are from South Africa:
• Kevin Lerena
• Karo Murat
• Mohamed Mimoune
• Shavkat Rakhimov
• Gideon Buthelezi
• Michael Dasmarinas
• Simphiwe Khonco

The IBO is a total joke, it's no more relevant now than it was 10 years ago.

It's just a belt for people who can't win one of the others.

Looks like the IBO has finally sponsored the hall of fame.
That is a big step towards someday being on equal footing with the "big four". It's not there yet but may get there at some point.
The big four have been recognized by the hall of fame for many years..
