Bryant jennings to fight Dimitrenko

Post by funso banjo baby »

a very odd matchup

I still rate Jennings, he's young and can get another shot at glory

but his team are feeding him stiffs atm

I fully expect Dimitrenko to turn up for the pay and fold inside 2 like Martz

Considering how hard of a fight he had with Dawjeko maybe they think he needs to shake off a little ring rust

I definitely don't think he'd fare too well against AJ or Wilder at the moment. If he can get the win over Dimitrenko it might be interesting to see him against an Andy Ruiz or a Dominic Breazeale or someone like that.

Dimitrenko is 41-3 as a pro and is coming off 2 consecutive wins over undefeated rated prospects.

And like Gilg said, Jennings hasn't earned anything better after coming off the average performance vs Dawejko.

Dimitrenko is ranked 8th in the IBF. Parker and Whyte are fighting each other, Takam is fighting Chisora, Povetkin is sitting on a title shot, Miller just fought and Pulev is also sitting on a potential title shot. Jennings is ranked 8 by the WBO, and the only fighters in front of him not currently schedule or mentioned above are Schwarz and Fujimoto, and I doubt either would care to fight Jennings at the moment.

Basically the winner of this fight will shoot up the rankings because most of those ranked in front of them are fighting each other or other somewhat dangerous matches.

It's a great fight for both at this moment in time.

I agree with that, in fact I'd go further in that I think it was very smart of him to give Joe Joyce a swerve too. At least until he shows us he's still far beyond the level of a good pro but no contender, like Dimitrenko.

I don't agree that Dimitrenko is a stiff. Dimitrenko would be the best opponent Jennings has beaten since at least 2014.

of course Dimitrenko has only lost 3 but his record is heavily padded.

the Granat win was a fluke

look at the performance against the likes of Rovcanin, or Pulev or even little Sprotty, they were really poor

Dimitrenko fights like Tom Shwarz,, the moment they get into a clinch they fall to the ground screaming.

Dimitrenko has never travelled far to fight. The prospect of him travelling to the US to score a big win is inconceivable.

Pretty even fight in the scheme of things.

I agree Dimitrenko is more in the opponent mode now and I would expect Bryant Jennings to be hungrier but probably a points win.

Certainly a match up that deserves credit not a slagging from those that dont understand.

Jennings, of course, is likely to win. He will probably be around the top for a while, but I don't give him much chances against the best. Maybe Whyte out of the all top list can be the most real target for him.

It’s amazing how many people think this is an even fight when 1 guy is a 25-1 favorite.

Well Fury didn't exactly perform like a 1-100 favorite today.

At those odds I would have expected Pianeta to be unconscious before the first bell.

As a comparatively tame 25-1 dog, Dimitrenko might lay a glove on Jennings a few times.

Holy hell, the undercard is absolutely horrific. Jesse Hart is extremely boring when he's fighting nobodies. Sosa is fighting a complete nobody too. Going to skip the undercard. This is straight garbage.

How the hell is Hart only -1250 against this cab driver? This guy looks like he’s never been punched before. Getting hurt with every shot.

sick of top rank matching hart and ramirez against guys like this. hart did respectably enough vs zurdo, couldnt they at least match him vs a respectable top 10-20 guy. how many of these weak easy work guys does he need, it just seems overly cautious

best coast used to go on blaming the wbss people for not having hart or zurdo in the tournament, but it was there ultra cautious top rank team keeping them out

This is nothing more than a showcase card.

Not surprising at all. Building their brand. As fans, it sucks. But for business, it's understandable.

Is Bryant a commonish name? I think Jennings is the only person I can remember with that name. It's kinda weird. It would be like my parents slapping a T at the end of my name. Stephent.

Jennings took over that round. First very clear round. My god, Dimitrenko is one big, weak lump.
